12/12/2009 6:31:00 PM Letter: Include your city library on Christmas gift list
Editor:
If you are reading this, chances are pretty good that you may also use the Cottonwood Public Library for good reading material, movies, recorded books or the computers. In the children’s and youth area there are games and a wonderful little nook for creative puppet theater presentations, as well as computers for the kids to use.
In this lean economic season of holiday giving, here is an opportunity to give something back to our community, specifically, the library. For those friends and relatives who say “No gifts please, I really don’t need anything!” Why not make a gift to our library in their name? The Cottonwood Library Bookmarks is the volunteer organization who will gladly accept donations and your money will be used in areas of most need. This will be a win/win situation: your generosity will be used to help protect our public library from the deep budget cuts that are on the horizon, and you took heed not to give to Aunt Martha or your friend who has everything, per their request.
If you are having doubts about this, think about the money you save when you use the library: a new book costs at least $25 (hard back edition), movie rentals are pricey if you watch three or four a week. Our library has so much to offer, and it’s free, so here’s the opportunity to show our appreciation by giving back during this season of loving, sharing and giving. You will be a bookish angel by doing this.
