Just a couple of weeks after moving to Sedona, I had an unexpected midnight surprise. There I was in the middle of the night on the floor. I had gotten out of bed and fallen. Suddenly, my leg just wouldn’t support me, and I couldn’t get up. I was so shocked, since nothing like this had ever happened to me.
At 89 years of age, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised, but I had enjoyed good health up to this point, other than having undergone a hip and a knee replacement.
Thank goodness I had my cell phone and could dial 911. Johnny and the other four paramedics who came to my aid within a couple of minutes were wonderful – professional, helpful, kind, and even humorous.
They transported me to the Verde Valley Medical Center in Cottonwood where I was treated with kindness, courtesy, professionalism, and excellent care by Dr. Livingstone and other doctors, nurses, staff, and even the smiling cleaning lady, who was so encouraging about my recovery.
While I hope I do not have another experience like that, I am comforted by the fact that I can have confidence in the medical emergency care here in Sedona. I’m undergoing physical therapy, am walking again, and working on increasing the mobility of my right arm.
I feel blessed to have so many people wishing me a quick recovery. What a friendly town. Thank you.
