Cottonwood Black belts compete in AmeriKicks World Tournament

Thekla Hutyrova (17) and Gavin Furrey (15) traveled to Philadelphia, PA two weeks ago to compete in the AmeriKicks International 2009 World Tournament, which was held in the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

Hutyrova placed 2nd in her Black belt Weapons competition and 3rd place in the Black belt Extreme Forms. She competes with a nun chuck weapons performance.

Gavin Furrey placed 3rd in the Black belt Extreme Forms competition and also competed in musical forms. Both martial artists train at Tae Kwon Do Unlimited under the direction of Caleb Labarda.
