The Cottonwood Mighty Mite Marauders finished the season undefeated with a 32-12 win over the tough Prescott Valley Wolfpack.
The Wolfpack started off strong and took a 12-6 lead after the first quarter. The Marauders however answered back. With two starters down, Chris Mathe stepped in at running back and had three first half touchdowns to help the Marauders to a 18-12 halftime lead. Chaz Taylor, Drew Streck and Colby Fanning ran the ball well and blocked very well for each other.
The defense, after giving up two quick touchdowns, settled in and played the way they usually do and shut the Wolfpack down, giving up just a few first downs the rest of the game. Colby Fanning and Drew Streck shut the outside running down with strong play at defensive ends. In the middle Kyle Simmons, Chaz Taylor and Chris Mathe made powerful plays at linebacker. Austin Tyler and Christian Reid had good games on defense, as well. Next up the Marauders play their first playoff game this Saturday at CMS.
