Toys for Tots drive at Wal-Mart

From noon to 4 p.m. the Marines, local fire fighters and police will help Toys for Tots reach their goal for the upcoming toy parties and deliveries to needy children in the Verde Valley. Look for fire engines, a Humvee, and lots of action by the Garden Shop area as you come into the Wal-Mart parking lot. Children will be invited into the fire trucks and Humvee. There will be lots of boxes to fill with $10 value toys. The need is greater this year, so remember “Every child deserves a little Christmas.” Call Krys at (928) 649-3747.
Holiday Fest & Santa at Rollins Park

Holiday Fest, an old-fashioned Christmas Party, is held each year in Rollins Park at the Lake Montezuma Square (by the fountain). From 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., Santa’s elves will serve free hot chocolate, lemonade, cookies, and popcorn while everyone is decorating ornaments to put on trees donated by the Logston family. There will be children’s activities and music provided by Verde Valley Sounds. About 2 p.m. Santa will arrive in a Montezuma-Rimrock Fire Truck; and free Santa pictures will be taken for children ages 7 and under first, then other ages as time permits. This year pictures may be picked up at Kiwanis Clothes Closet, 3095 E Beaver Creek Road. Please bring your own chairs.
Camp Verde Holiday Home Tour

Camp Verde Library Endowment volunteers and Sweet Pea Antiques present the inaugural Holiday Home Tour from noon to 4 p.m. Visit nine homes decorated for the season and help out the Library Endowment (don’t forget the library book sale all day, too). The last stop will be the Hance House, where refreshments will be served. Cost is $20; tickets available at several local merchants. Greg Collins, the engineer behind the Verde Solar Power store in Cornville, will address the next Friends of the Well meeting. His talk will educate you on various solar power options, the APS rebate program, the coming energy crises, and answer any of your questions.

CMS hosts Band Concert
Dec. 15
Take a ride on the Polar Express! Relive the imagination of the Nutcracker Suite! The Cottonwood Middle School Lobo Concert Band will be presenting their Annual Winter Concert at 7 p.m. at the CMS Gym.
The CES Beginning Band will be presenting the first half of this concert. This will be the first performance for most of these young musicians.
Santa Paws is coming to town

Greyhounds of the Verde Valley and Morning Starr Animal Sanctuary present the seventh annual Santa Paws event. All pets are welcome, dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, you name it. Santa loves animals. The event is at Olsen’s Grain in Clarkdale 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
A Walgreens photographer will be taking pictures of your family pets and Santa. All the proceeds will go toward the care of the animals. The day includes free raffles, treats, goodie bags and more.

Durkee-Baenziger Holiday Open Art Studio

Fish fry with the Elks

The Friday Night Fish Fry returns at Sedona Elks’ Lodge #2291 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Cost is $9 per person, for all-you-can-eat fried and baked fish, french fries or baked potato, coleslaw, hush puppies, vegetable and dessert. Everyone is welcome.
Dec. 6, the Elks will serve a pancake and bacon breakfast at the Lodge, from 9 a.m. until noon. Cost is $5 per person, and everyone is welcome.

Get Ready, Get Set, Shop

With less than 30 days until Christmas, the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post 7400 are lining up Valley crafters for the “just in time for Christmas Arts and Crafts Show” from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the VFW hall located at 705 E. Aspen St. in Cottonwood.
Featuring lots of long-time, local crafters with crafts such items as handmade Indian jewelry, Christmas angels, wickless candles (prefect for candle lovers without the mess or danger of traditional candles) and lots of other unique gifts to delight even the person “who has everything.”
VVPOA highway cleanup

The next Arizona 260 highway cleanup will be at 8 a.m. at the One in Christ Church parking lot, across the highway from the Verde Valley Fire Station. ADOT will provide the blue bags and vests. All volunteers should bring their own gloves and should wear long pants. They have several nail sticks. The more volunteers they can get the cleaner the highway gets and the quicker the job gets done. Join your neighbors and help keep Arizona beautiful. All National Association of Women Business Owners members and sponsors are invited to the annual Holiday Party from 5 to 9 p.m., at The Lodge of Sedona.
