Supper at the VFW

The Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW 6739 at 277 W. 260 in Camp Verde is having stuffed bell peppers, mashed potatoes and lots of sides from noon to 4 p.m. A $5 donation goes to Vets and family support.

Share ideas with Student Council

Sept. 28

All parents, students and community members are invited to attend the meeting of the Camp Verde School Student Advisory Council (SAC) to help improve and enhance Camp Verde High School. Your opinions and suggestions are valued and wanted to help bring Camp Verde High School to the next level of academic success. The meeting is at 6:30 p.m. in Room 313 at the high school. Garden Tea & Art Show

Oct. 17

The Beaver Creek Garden Club is hosting a "Garden Tea and Art Show" from 2 to 4 p.m. at "Off the Beaten Path," 5560 N. Bice Road, McGuireville. Several artisans will be present at the event. A total of 100 invitations (donation of $10 per person/invitation) are available for this event. Invitations will not be sold at the door of the "Garden Tea and Art Show."

Dance with Women of the Moose

Oct. 31

Women of the Moose Will present another wonderful dinner/dance beginning at 6 p.m. They will serve until 8 p.m. You may have a choice of chicken or ribs with a beautiful assortment of vegetables and homemade bread on your plate.

Hashknife, the famous band from Payson will provide a variety of music from 8 p.m. to midnight, from the golden oldies to the newer soft music, mainly country/western.

There will be a weekly drawing for tickets purchased before Oct.31. On the night of the dinner/dance there will be a grand prize drawing. A silent auction will be in progress with many beautiful and useful items for you to bid on.

Get hands-on with fire department

The Clarkdale Fire Department will present the October program at the Clarkdale Heritage Center Museum.  They will have equipment on display for a hands-on experience.  On the second weekend of October, uniformed firemen will be available to answer questions and describe fire department activities.  Anyone who has pictures of past activities or fires would be welcome to loan them to the Museum for the duration of the program.  Center personnel are excited about this program and grateful to the Fire Department for their contribution.  They anticipate that the residents of Clarkdale and the Verde Valley will respond enthusiastically.  The Museum is located at 900 First North St. in Clarkdale, next to the police station.  Hours are on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.       

Miller to address Cornville Community Association

Oct. 14

Cornville Community Association has a monthly meeting from 7-9 p.m. at Oak Creek Elementary School.  This month's agenda will have Judy Miller from the Cornville Historical Society with a power point presentation updating the community on all the accomplishments the Historical Society has had in the past five years. This will give everyone the opportunity to hear how this group has put the history of Cornville together and let you know how you can get involved.  

The second speaker will be Director Robert Resendes from Yavapai County Community Health Services to update everyone on the West Nile virus and the H1N1 " swine" flu

Primal Groove in free concert

Oct. 2-3

Austin-based singer/songwriter and blues/rock trio Andy Macintyre & The Primal Groove will be performing inside Cliff Castle Casino's Dragonfly Lounge for a two-night concert.  Show is at 9 p.m. and is free to the public.
