For the second year in a row, a member of the Thursby family has been voted employee of the year by the staff of the Verde Valley Guidance Clinic. Facilities Coordinator Steve Thursby is the Clinic’s 2009 employee of the year, following the example of his wife, Kim, a Computer Support Technician who received the honor in 2008.

As Facilities Coordinator, Steve is in charge of routine cleaning and maintenance of the Clinic’s facilities in Cottonwood, Camp Verde, and Sedona. He also coordinates with vendors and contractors on the Clinic’s construction and remodeling projects and makes sure the Clinic’s vehicles are properly maintained. This has been an especially busy year for Steve, as he had a major role in the remodeling of the Camp Verde offices and the completion of the new Ike Olson Building on the Cottonwood campus.

Always cheerful and eager to help other staff members, Steve Thursby has become a favorite among co-workers during his two plus years at the Clinic. The Thursbys have lived in the Cornville area for the past five years after moving from Fullerton, California. Steve’s hobbies include hiking, biking, gardening and landscaping.

Asked about succeeding his wife as employee of the year, Steve said, “Team Thursby! We certainly didn’t plan it, but I think it’s great. We are overwhelmed by everyone’s generosity. I work in an environment that promotes individual responsibility. You are encouraged to make sound decisions, & are supported by a network of co-workers, management, and a caring community. I treasure my experiences here.”

Others voted for recognition by the staff at Verde Valley Guidance Clinic are Raymond Razo, a behavioral health worker, Joan Sexton, a child and family case manager, and Ben Taylor, a crisis therapist. They received the Clinic’s Peer Recognition Awards for 2009.
