Verde sales tax encouraging for November
Four Valley communities show increases in one or more categories

VERDE VALLEY - November sales tax figures for Cottonwood and Jerome show increases over the same month last year in retail sales tax, total sales tax and year-to-date sales tax collections.

Camp Verde increased its total sales tax revenue category for November while dropping some from last year in both retail and year-to-date categories. Sedona increased its retail sales tax revenue for November over last year but dropped in total sales tax and year-to-date sales tax.

Clarkdale, even with an increase in its sales tax rate, was the only Verde Valley community to show a drop in November for retail, total and year-to-date sales tax categories over last year.

Cottonwood collected $508,352 in retail sales tax for Nov. 09, an increase from $428,261 last year. Total sales tax collections for November also climbed from $709,693 last year to $760,843 this year. Year-to-date sales tax revenue jumped from $3,813,914 through November last year to $4,333,595 this year.

Camp Verde increased its total sales tax collections for Nov. 09 to $234,253 from $201,634 last year. Retail sales tax dropped a little from $59,973 last November to $58,433 this November. Year-to-date sales tax revenue through November also was down to $909,505 from $969,231 last year.

Clarkdale dropped in retail sales tax for November to $2,943 from $3,612 a year ago. Total sales tax also dropped significantly from $97,332 in Nov. 08 to $56,265 for Nov. 09. Year-to-date sales tax revenue through November dropped steeply to $250,860 from $366,143 for the same period last year.

Jerome increased its sales tax revenue in all three categories over November last year. Retail sales tax was up from $18,899 last November to $19,982 this year. Total sales tax revenue for November also was up from $47,194 last year to $49,320 this year. Year-to-date sales tax collections through November were up from $202,994 last year to $205,451 this year.

Sedona's retail sales tax figures climbed somewhat from $279,192 for Nov. 08 to $281,097 for Nov. 09. Total sales tax dropped from $1,191,160 in November last year to $1,075,186 this year.

Year-to-date sales tax revenue through November dropped to $5,229,391 this year from $6,154,218 in 2008.
