Verde Valley Newspapers came away from the Western News&Info., Inc., annual Editorial Seminar with 21 awards for its work over the past year.
Daily and non-daily newspapers within the WNI family, which includes The Verde Independent and Camp Verde Bugle, were judged in 12 categories.
Reporter Steve Ayers and photographer Jon Pelletier both received two first-place honors. Ayers placed first in Enterprise Writing for the fourth year in a row and also won the Excellence in Writing category. Pelletier took first in Feature Photography and, teamed with Clayton Peterson, Multi-Media Package.
Wendy Phillippe was first in Sports Photography and third in Sports Writing.
Raquel Hendrickson was first in Column and Opinion Writing and second in Page Design.
Philip Wright placed second in Enterprise Writing and was third in Feature Photography.
Pelletier was second in News Photography and Best Video, and took third in Sports Photography. Ayers was third in Feature/Specialty Writing and News Photography. The Verde Independent and Bugle staffs swept the Multi-Media Package category.
Other VVN staffers received awards for first place in News Photography, second place in Feature/Specialty Writing and third place in Page Design and Excellence in Writing.
