Letter: Why schedule games on Sunday?

Editor:

I've been in Little League since I was five years old. I've always loved competing with my friends in this sport. When I was 9 years old, I had my first opportunity to play for our Verde Valley All-Star team. Since then, All-Stars has been my highlight in baseball. I'm now 12 and this is my fourth and final year in Little League and All-Stars.

My dad, Chris Taylor, is the coach of our team. We have put many hours into practicing.

For the first time ever, our district tournament bracket was set up for teams to compete on Sunday. We started the tournament by playing Prescott on Friday.

Win or lose that game, we for sure had to play on Sunday. Little League has never played on Sunday for All-Stars in our district. Even when my brother played, which was ten years ago, there were never Sunday games.

Because of my religious beliefs, I choose not to play sports on Sunday. My dad and I begged the district administrator for the bracket to be changed prior to the tournament, but she kept the schedule the same.

We were disappointed, and I was sad thinking my team would think I was letting them down.

However, my team was supportive of my decision and played hard without my dad and me. I wish our Little League District would be supportive of the way it used to be by not scheduling All-Star games on Sunday.

Chaz Taylor

just another way for the left to attack conservatives. Bet if your team were attending a mosque they would change it.

Freedom of religion for you does not mean everyone else should have to adjust their lives around your religious calendar. Sorry kid..l when you growup you will learn the world does not revolve around you and what your church tells you to do.

WAY TO GO CHAZ! I too believe Sundays is Bogus! Seriously!! Whether it be if you are religious or not, I think the world will continue with out little league being played on Sunday. If it has always been they never played on Sunday, why change now? Thanks Chaz for you leadership and your voice. And next time when you hit a GRAND SLAM in regular season, it's ok to show some excitement Dude! You are an AWESOME ball player. The Verde Valley Little League is lucky to have players like you you and coaches like your Dad. Good luck, I hope this sunday playing is short lived.
