A serious late-morning accident Tuesday badly injured one woman and flipped her Ford Thunderbird onto its roof.

A serious late-morning accident Tuesday badly injured one woman and flipped her Ford Thunderbird onto its roof. The vehicle flipped over on the sidewalk at Courtesy Motors, but also struck a red Honda in its path and four other vehicles on display at the car lot, including a Porche 911 Carrera, reportedly offered at $30,000. The Thunderbird appeared to have sideswiped the Honda on the driver's side as both were eastbound approaching the traffic light at Main and 89A. It's believed that the woman was flown to Flagstaff Medical Center trauma unit. The driver of the Honda was also pinned inside and needed to be cut out of the crumpled car. VVN/Jon Pelletier

Shane what is your problem? Got a grudge against EMS workers? What did you expect to accomplish by your derisive remark? Perhaps you can also let us know what the EMS emergency responders were saying. Without them we would be dead, literally. Great people, everyone of them. Don't go laying this off on the police either. Accidents are caused by thoughtless, careless drivers. The police have clean up the mess caused by them.

The police department said the TBird was traveling at a high rate of speed in the middle turn lane and plowed into the Honda as it pulled out of the Food City parking lot. You would never know that based on the lack of investigation done on this story.

Speed may well of had nothing to do with this accident. If you tag a curb just right, your car can flip over, especially if you just overcorrected. There are no skid marks or car sliding marks, which lead me to think it was a case of tagging the curb and suddenly the law of physics and gravity prevailed.

Anybody who has gone through professional driver training can tell you. There is no such thing as an accident.
These things happen by one or more persons carelessness or negligence. Period!!

Maybe she had a seizure or heart attack which caused the accident. We don't really have all the facts.

Almost every single person driving up to the 89A and Main Street intersection seems to think they have to cut over at the last minute to turn right. I am getting so sick of people doing this !! Get over to the right way before you get to the turn and STOP CUTTING people off just so you can be in front of them. When are the Cottonwood Police going to stop people from doing this day after day ?????? Like the other people said "How in the world can you cause such a bad accident when the speed limit is 35 ?? " SLOW DOWN drivers !!!!

Nobody should be doing 35 MPH that close to the corner in the first place. I was rear-ended in 2004 where the old Autozone was-Cottonwood Cinema driveway, because of someone not paying attention to their driving. I'm still trying to figure out why most people are in such a hurry to go places? I get passed everyday by someone just so they can be in front of me. My motto: If your in a hurry, leave early.

The first responder is not smiling. Even if he was, maybe he is trying to cheer up the injured person. Were you there helping? Just curious.

Wow, I hope everyone is OK. What a horrible accident.

I canít believe the comments here, like none of you ever sped or made a mistake in your entire lives! And one person is trying to buy one of the cars! Really!?!

I hope everyone recovers from this accident without any long term side effects and I hope they don't have a computer to read the comments here.

Empathy people!

Unless you know inside information, why is everybody assuming this person was speeding for a negligent reason??? Maybe there was a medical reason !! And I don't believe the side of the other car was ripped off, they indicated the person had to be cut out of the vehicle. And the EMT smiling ??? Seriously??? Maybe he was smiling at the patient, offering encouragement.
Let's give the person the benefit of the doubt, until we hear what happened.

Article comment by: OMG People!

Okay. This is flat out scary. Some people posting here seriously need to get a LIFE. Picking apart a horrible accident in these ways? Guessing at what's going on in the face of a first responder and criticizing it??? Are you KIDDING??? Did it ever dawn on anyone this apparently-smiling person might be doing their best to keep the accident victim calm?

And NO ONE KNOWS what caused this accident. NO ONE. To be using this incident of unknown origin to vent one's spleen about drivers who speed is just plain juvenile and ridiculous!

And making an offer on one of the damaged vehicles????????? HERE?

Okay then, guess I've become one of you here, venting myself just couldn't believe what I was reading, and the small-minded knee-jerk absurdity of some of these comments.

Be embarrassed. Be very embarrassed. Yes, of course, if there's a pattern of accidents in this spot, that needs attention. Other than that? The focus should be on the injured parties, prayers and good wishes for them, don'tcha THINK? Jeez.

Shane, doesn't look like he's smiling to me. That the face of a man straining. He seems to be the only one pushing.

Blaming police for the person speeding?

Critiquing the first responder's facial expressions based upon a snapshot in the paper?

And if the city were to place an officer at every stop light? Cries of a military take over and infringement of your rights are sure to follow by the same folks that grace these comments as we speak.

Things like this are called accidents for a reason, the need to blame it on others is unfortunate... and typical of so many in the world these days.

But if something happened to you... its a good bet that you would appreciate the first reponders regardless of the expression on their faces in the moment of a camera shot.
