Letter: It’s simple: get rid of the dog park

I have lived in Cottonwood since 1976, but more than that I am an Arizona native and spent my life here. I knew Cottonwood when the only neighborhood was downtown, and 9th street was a quiet sleepy neighborhood where families lived forever.

My friend Jeanice Allen has had a hard time convincing others she has the same right as anyone else. The Dog Park, which no one wants in their back yard, has been dumped on her back yard.

Now this is simple: GET RID OF THE DOG PARK. She has tried hard to go to the city council and make her plea, and apparently they have decided she doesn’t count, even though she has lived here and raised her children.

We didn’t have a dog park before, and it’s apparent the only solution is to close it forever. There is a lot of open country where people can walk their dogs, so let’s get this done.

Many times as a person gets older they suffer from Dementa and complain about nothing I have been by the park many times and have heard more barking in some oft he neighborhoods around Cottonwood. Funny no complaints before the park was built. Say 89A runs by my house lets make them move 89A Also a friend of mine live across from Walmart after we move 89A lets go after Walmart

Nina Lovett:

I am convinced that the only way that Jeanice Allen will ever get rid of the Dog Park is by taking legal action against the City of Cottonwood to have it removed.

When and if she decides to move forward with such an action, she can set up a legal defense fund and I will happily contribute money to it to support her in her legal battle with the City.

Short of that, I do not see the Dog Park being closed.

Take it from someone who just moved from an area where women carry tea-cup dogs in purses, pet friendly restaraunts are popular, and 5 Star star resorts for your furry friend are all the rage at $250.00+ a night. Don't get me wrong- I Love all Animals especially Dogs.I raised my dog like she was human. The thing is I take very good care of mydog.Vaccinations on time-Vet twice a year-etc.How about all those other Dogs at the DogPark? Those places are breeding grounds for diseases and attract vermin that woundn"t normaly be a problem. I was realy hoping to get away from all of that.
