Letter: Give Obama an F in Mathematics

Obama keeps bragging about the number of jobs he has created. The last number was 200,000 to 300,000 depending on whom you believe. If you believe that means recovery and full employment is under way, check out these numbers.

In 2007 there were 18,870,000 immigrants in the U.S., of which 11,780,00 were illegal. That number keeps increasing because 1,780,000 immigrants enter the U.S. every year (78 percent Mexico and Latin America, 13 percent Asia, 6 percent Europe and Canada, and 3 percent Africa). Add the U.S. birth rate to those immigration numbers, and you can see Obama knows that old saying “figures don’t lie but liars can figure.”

And is the money earned spent in America? For example, Mexico’s second largest income source, (oil is number one) is from their citizens working in foreign countries (mostly America) and sending part of their pay to Mexico. In 2011 that amount was $23 billion.

So if you think his second term will fix everything, check the math.

John Stephens

And don't forget Romney was also going to increase military spending by $1 trillion, so we could be in multiple wars. He had no plans to create jobs or bring the money back home to the USA. He was a real wind sock when it came to his plans for America. Whichever way the wind was blowing that was his stand.

The only math that matters now is... 323>206, or... 62 million plus votes are greater than 58 million votes.

Now we will be bombarded with endless diatribes and projection from the loss.

As well as states wishing to secede and conspiracy theories galore.

What is especially ironic is that the party that relies so heavily on the bible and scoffs at the theory of evolution and is blinded with hate over 'science'... is in fact evolving itself out of existence.

The Grand Ol' Party is at a crossroads(gps?) it can either moderate its views on religion, immigration, lgbtq, taxes and science... or it can dig even deeper into the bubble of the southern strategy.

One path will alienate the traditional base and $ sources, and the other will reinforce the support of an ever dwindling electorate that is simply aging out of existence.

Perhaps the bluster and calls for GOP victory in this election was the 'dead cat bounce'(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dead_cat_bounce) along the path of 'evolution' for the GOP?

Two Cents: This isn't rocket science, the way to balance the budget without raising taxes is to grow the economy, something that your Messiah has no interest in.

@ John,
Give it up John the sheeple have spoken. The one math tidbit Romney hit right on the head was the 47% bit. The election has proven that half our country has no clue. There is nothing you can say to change them it is a waste of breath. The DNC stated after the election their campaign goal was to assasinate Romneys character,I assume because has character, it worked and the sheeple fell for it.

When are all the Tea-baggers going to realize that Romney LOST! 'You people' can stop campaigning and lying any time now.

Seems to me, maybe it's time for Willard to "Self-Deport!".

John, Yes, math can be complicated. According to current figures from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (the federal agency responsible for deportations), the Obama administration has removed 1.4 million people during his first 42 months in office.

As far as jobs are concerned (following the Great Recession which began just as George Bush handed the presidency to Mr. Obama), American businesses began to recover and again began to steadily add jobs in March 2010. In the 32 months since then, the economy has regained 4.9 million jobs. That includes 368,000 jobs that the Labor Department has said were added in the year that ended in March 2012.
The net result is that the economy has added 562,000 jobs during Obama’s time in the White House.

(Obama’s total compares with a net loss of 13,000 jobs in President George W. Bush’s first term, from 2001 through 2005. Then, Bush added 1.1 million jobs in his second term. Job gains under President Bill Clinton totaled 11.5 million in his first term and 11.2 million jobs in his second.)

re: John Stephens

Since you are so good at math and statistics, have you ever figured out Mitts math? Remember he was going to balance the budget without raising taxes on the wealthy or middle class and without eliminating soc. sec. How did he say he was going to do that?, I didn't see his answer, did anyone?

Ouch! The bitter harvest of political GOP defeat certainly makes for "sour grapes"!
