'Tis the Season for Giving Angels
Volunteers like Mingus Union High School Seniors Leah Mount and Alison Bauers are returning to help the group meet its goal of delivering 660 gift bags. The National Honor Society officers took part last year, and the two said more members have signed up this year.

Cottonwood Christmas Contra Dance

Dec. 20

Cottonwood Christmas Contra Dance at the Cottonwood Civic Center, 805 N. Main St. in Old Town. No experience or partner needed-if you can walk, you can contra. Kari Barton and her band, Fionn McCool, will play the tunes with calling by JP Thom-Gronachan. Basics are taught at 6:30 p.m., then dance 7-10 p.m. Snacks to share are always appreciated. So you sing? Do you like performing? Audition for Cottonwood Idol II, a vocal competition open to all ages 8 years and older. Contestants will compete in three age categories - Junior Rising Star, Rising Star and Cottonwood Idol. Auditions are Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Susan J Rheem, Adult Care Services Center on Main Street. Audition fee is $10; Audience tickets at the door $5.
