Will mining return to Jerome? (Part One)
It's easy to speculate about the return of mining to Jerome. Everyone does. I still do. The wealth of mining and its ravages are in your face and under your feet.

When I roamed around Jerome and its mountains, I ran into big holes with fences around them and landslides of tailings. I loved throwing rocks down the holes to see how long they would take to hit bottom (seven seconds was the longest). My pockets filled with unusual rocks. I was in leaverite heaven.

Parents and the public are invited to tours of each of Cottonwood-Oak Creek schools. The tours will be led by the school principal, fire marshal and police officer. All tours will start at 8 a.m. lasting about 45 minutes. Homemade cookies and coffee will be served.

Sears gets jeweler neighbor with Galina
COTTONWOOD - Galina Fine Jewelers has moved across the street from its old Safeway shopping center location into the other half of a newer building already occupied by a hometown Sears.

Owner Galina Lisa Saulaah said the storefront is the same square footage as the last location, but opens up to a busy street.
