Revelation Wines: Old Town's first full-production winery on the way
COTTONWOOD -- While numerous tasting rooms fill Old Town Cottonwood, Revelation Wines will be the historic area's first winery. Located just off Main Street at 102 E. Pima Street, a tasting room will also accompany the full-production winery in what previously housed a church.

The opening is set for 2014, with exact dates to be announced in the coming months.

Verde Valley Southwest Wine Center closer to completion
CLARKDALE - After two months of construction, the exterior structure of the Southwest Wine Center on the Yavapai College Verde Valley campus has been completed.

According to Tom Beveridge, FCI Constructors project superintendent, the building's interior concrete slab will be placed this week with framing and electrical/plumbing work to follow.

Following Verde Valley Wine Trail into the future

Teaching winery set to open fall 2014
CLARKDALE - City officials and wine aficionados broke ground Tuesday on what is now the four squares of a racquetball court, but will soon house a $1.9 million teaching winery at Yavapai College.

Starting fall 2014, students are going to ferment, age and market the grapes harvested from the 6 planted acres of vineyard that sit next to the new facility.

Wine shortage refuted, but Verde Valley vintners say demand still high
CORNVILLE - Though national officials are refuting reports of a global wine shortage, Deb Wahl of Oak Creek Vineyards and Winery says increasing demand is pressuring her, and other Verde Valley winemakers, to produce more.

"We can't plant enough, we can't produce [enough]," said Wahl, Oak Creek's owner. "Even with my small winery, I'm always under the gun to produce more [and] produce better. That's a good problem to have, right?"

New planning for other side of Cornville Road, VSF sees wine culture as lure
"We are not off and running, yet, but we have brought it back to the forefront and we are all fired up."

Brookfield Communities Founder and President Phil Peterson is referring to what in the past was called Bella Montana, the 750 acres of Republic Properties north of Cornville Road. But, forget that name. The proposed development is now part of "a new vision" that Peterson says will be better suited to the rural character of the area.

Volunteers expand vineyard at Yavapai College's Verde Campus (with photo gallery)
As Yavapai College viticulture and enology student Jason Crut knelt in the dirt Saturday, he pointed out an area to other volunteers that needed planting at the school's Plant-a-Vine event in Clarkdale.

Meanwhile, Verde Valley winemaker and musician Maynard Keenan, mayors from Jerome, Cottonwood, Clarkdale and Camp Verde and their staff, Boy and Girl Scouts, employees of Salt River Project and Arizona Vines & Wines Magazine, community members, and foundation donors made quick work of adding an additional three acres of a variety of wine grapevines to the one acre of vineyard planted in 2010 at the Southwest Wine Center.
