Meet our match of the week, Big Sister Joyea and Little Sister Jynae!

Match of the Week

Do you remember that person from your childhood who made an impact on you?

Maybe it was a friend of your family, a teacher or an uncle who went the extra mile for you.

At Big Brothers Big Sisters there are many children right here in the Verde Valley and Sedona waiting for a “Big.”

Meet our match of the week, Big Sister Joyea and Little Sister Jynae!

Joyea and Jynae will be matched a year in August and they have done so many memorable and fun things together.

Jynae is always excited about the adventures she’s gone on with her big sister Joyea. She says they’ve been to the tiger splash at Out of Africa, movies in Prescott Valley, Funzone to play and go golfing. She enjoys her visits with her big sister at the park after she has watched her play soccer at the field. Grandmother Suzette says that Jynae and Joyea are a perfect match. She’s very grateful and appreciative of Joyea for being Jynae’s mentor and becoming a positive influence in her life.

Joyea is so thankful to have this opportunity to be a part of Jynaes life as a big sister and she has also bonded with the family. She says Jynae makes events, activities and outings very enjoyable because she’s open to learning new things. She describes her little sister as fun, loving, respectful, and precious.

These two are such a strong match, that they have been asked to come to the Site Program that is taking place at the Yavapai Apache Recreation Center. They will be serving as role models for the new matches, and will become leaders in this new program.

They are looking forward to helping other kids get matched just like they were!

Becoming a Big Sister or Big Brother is one of the most rewarding things you will ever do.

Of the kids waiting for a Big right now, there’s one wanting to go on a hike, ride bikes, bake cookies or just hang out with someone like you. Some have been waiting for almost a whole year!

The organization currently serves 17 communities and over 60 school sites within Yavapai County and Sedona.
