Match of the Week

Do you remember that person from your childhood who made an impact on you? Maybe it was a friend of your family, a teacher or an uncle who went the extra mile for you. At Big Brothers Big Sisters there are many children right here in the Verde Valley and Sedona waiting for a "Big."

Meet our match of the week Don and Sameer! They have been matched for a few months now and these guys are getting along great!

Sameer and his mom agree that this is a perfect. Mom thinks they couldn't possibly be any more alike. She says, "they are so similar! They just laugh and have so much fun together. Sam just lights up when he talks about his Big Brother".

Sameer is excited to have a Big Brother who has traveled to so many interesting places and knows so much about the things that interest him. Most importantly he feels like he can be himself around Don. They laugh and joke a lot. His favorite thing about Don is how funny he is and that he is a good listener.

Don describes Sameer as an extremely engaging and enthusiastic young man. "He has excellent people skills and is a great communicator. Also, he has such a good sense of humor!"

Don feels that being a Big Brother is an extremely rewarding experience. He enjoys being able to connect with his Little on multiple levels. There are so many ways to be involved, from sports, to academics, to exploring and learning about the world together. It is a wonderful opportunity to experience the world with renewed enthusiasm.

Becoming a Big Sister or Big Brother is one of the most rewarding things you will ever do. Of the kids waiting for a Big right now, there's one wanting to go on a hike, ride bikes, bake cookies or just hang out with someone like you. Some have been waiting for almost a whole year!
