Everyone needs someone in their life to look up to. Do you remember the person who inspired you when you were a child? Someone who believed in you, more than you believed in yourself?
At Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters there are over 400 kids waiting for a person like you! The overwhelming majority of our waiting kids are boys being raised by a single mother or grandparent.
Women are great role models, but for a young boy who wants to talk about “guy stuff,” a strong male influence is what they need.” Make a difference in a boy’s life, volunteer to become a Big Brother Today!
Alejandro is an imaginative and animated 8-year-old! He loves animals and cares about wild animal protection around the world. He loves shooting basketball in his backyard and also likes to play football and soccer. When Alejandro grows up he wants to be a famous baseball player or a rock and roll star! He spends a lot of time at home playing computer games, watching TV and reading. He is an only child and lives with his mother, grandmother and grandfather.
Alejandro is in the second grade and is somewhat behind in school, as he has been frequently ill. He is getting some tutoring help but catching up is a slow process.
Alejandro’s mother would like to see her son matched to a couple or family. She would like someone to talk to him about “man stuff,” like girls and have opportunities to go sigh-seeing or camping. His mom worries that he is too sheltered would like him matched with someone that could share new experiences and introduce him to more of the world. Alejandro says that he wants a Big Brother who likes animals and will play sports with him!
