Ricardo is an 8-year-old who likes to be in charge.

Do you remember the older guy in your life who you wanted to be just like? Someone who spent time with you and has helped to shape the person you are today?

You can be that person to a boy in your own community! At Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters there are over 400 boys and girls waiting to be matched with a Big Brother, Big Sister or Family. Most of the waiting kids are boys, and are in need of a positive male influence in their life. Imagine a boy not being given the chance to talk comfortably about "guy" stuff. You can provide that! Make an impact in a boy's life simply by taking that first step and volunteering to be a Big Brother today!

Meet Ricardo, an energetic, 8-year-old boy. Ricardo is a natural leader and likes best to be in charge. He also likes to build things. One time while he was visiting Mexico, he helped his dad and other family members build a house!

Ricardo has an interest in saving money and likes to save up when possible, for video games and maybe someday, a restaurant! One day, Ricardo would like to own his own restaurant, make lots of money and have people working for him.

Ricardo is in the second grade and says that he has trouble with reading and math. He is better at addition than subtraction, though. At school he likes to play with Batman and Superman toys and after school he usually goes home and watches TV or plays video games. One of the best things he recalls happening in his life is when his family got a new puppy.

Ricardo's mom would like him to have a Big Brother who could regularly help him with his reading and literature, as well as get him out and about, trying new things. Ricardo wants a Big Brother who likes video games and cartoons, but also someone he could try new things with. A Big Brother who enjoys building things and doing other hands-on activities would be very beneficial to Ricardo.

Join Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters today by becoming a Big Brother of Big Sister to a young person like Ricardo! Just a few hours a couple times a month is all it takes to change a life. Contact Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters at (928) 634-9789 or online at www.azbigs.org.

Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters is a volunteer and donor supported organization proven to help the most vulnerable children in our communities succeed through one-to-one relationships. The organization currently serves 17 communities and over 60 school sites within Yavapai County and Sedona.
