Kirkpatrick staff hours at local offices

District staff for U.S. Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick, D-Ariz., host monthly office hours in Sedona and Camp Verde.

Sedona hours on March 5 are 10 a.m.-3 p.m. in the city manager's conference room, 102 Roadrunner Drive.

Camp Verde hours on March 12 are 10 a.m.-3 p.m. in the Boler building, 348 S. Main St.

Time to apply for State Farm grants

Archaeology talk at the Castle

March 5 & 26

For Archaeology and Heritage Awareness Month, Montezuma Castle National Monument will present "Environmental Influences for Sinaguan Settlement" at 10 a.m.

Join Melissa Philibeck in learning about the Sinagua, an ancient Native American culture that once inhabited the Park area.

Meet at the Montezuma Castle Interpretive Circle located near the main viewing area at 2800 Montezuma Castle Road.

Demonstrating ancient tools

March 7

Coconino National Forest - Red Rock Ranger District presents "Ancient Technologies" from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. event will feature demonstrations and displays of ancient tools and technologies that helped people thrive in the Southwestern environment for centuries.

Demonstrations will be at the visitor center under a covered porch at Red Rock Ranger Station, 8375 State Route 179, one mile south of the Village of Oak Creek. Free.

Living history at Fort Verde

March 15

Fort Verde State Historic Park hosts a Living History Presentation and Guided Tours at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Take a stroll along Officers' Row with a docent as they lead guided tours through historic homes. Free Parenting Classes in Cottonwood

March 20

Buena Vista Children's Services is offering free Love and Logic parenting classes beginning Thursday and continuing for six sessions.

This free class includes free child care for those who register early. Childcare space is limited.

The classes will be at the Verde Valley Montessori School, 215 S. Main St. in Cottonwood on (Thursdays) March 20, March 27, April 3, April 10, April 17 and April 24. Classes will meet from 6 to 8 p.m.

Registration is required.

Immaculate Conception Spring Fashion Show

March 22

The fifth annual Spring Fashion Show of the Immaculate Conception Ladies Auxiliary is Saturday from noon to 3 p.m.

Our Lady of the Valley Auxiliary, Immaculate Conception Parish, is selling tickets for the show and luncheon for $15 per person.

Tickets can also be purchased at the parish office next to the church at 700 N. Bill Gray Road. Advance ticket sales only. Fashions by Catos.

This fabulous event includes a catered gourmet luncheon plus door prizes and lots of fun! All proceeds benefit the parish and local charities.

V Bar V Archaeology Discovery Days

March 22-23

The annual V Bar V Archaeology Discovery Days are 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. each day. There will be demonstrations and hands-on practice of ancient technology including throwing atl-atls, making fire by friction, spinning and weaving cotton, making and firing pottery, learning about traditional use of plants, watch expert flint-knapping and learn about a wide array of ancient tool technology. Enjoy watching dancers from the Yavapai Apache Nation and more.

Red Rock Pass required for parking. V Bar V is located off Forest Road 618 on the right, just after Wet Beaver Creek. Call (928) 203-2900 for specific directions. No registration is required.



Clarkdale Caboose Gift Shop Grand Opening

The Town of Clarkdale is pleased to announce a ribbon cutting for the grand opening of the Clarkdale Caboose Gift Shop at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday. This new business is located on the corner of Main and Ninth Street in Clarkdale in a re-furbished train caboose. Owners Laura and Pat Ladeau are pleased to offer a variety of Clarkdale gift ideas including art creations featuring work by local artists, lotions, soaps, jewelry, candles, scarves, greeting cards and toys. Also for sale are Clarkdale souvenirs such as magnets, coffee mugs, T-shirts, bookmarks and key rings. A variety of cold drinks, snacks and candy as well as fresh, homemade cupcakes are in stock. The hours of operation are Tuesday through Saturday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.



Cornville P&Z to discuss PAD zoning

March 5

Cornville Community Association's Planning & Zoning committee will meet Wednesday, March 5

at 5:30 p.m. at the Verde Fire District Station 32, 1120 Page Springs Road, regarding a potential PAD zoning change for the existing Living Waters Retreat property. On hand will be representatives from Yavapai County Development Services who will explain the PAD process, and a representative of Camp Soaring Eagle.This meeting is to provide information to interested parties in the community and is not in response to an actual zoning change request filed by Camp Soaring Eagle.
