The board of directors of Adult Care Services, Inc., Adult Day Care Services, Inc. and Executive Director Yvonne Napolitano announce the upcoming opening of the Susan J. Rheem Adult Day Center in Cottonwood. This will be the third adult day center program for ACS, which has been providing programs and services in Prescott and Prescott Valley since 1982.
"Cottonwood has been without a day center since approximately 2006," said Yvonne Napolitano. "Fortunately, the Sedona Sunrise Center for Adults was able to accommodate some of the areas needs. Once hearing about ACS' plan to open in Cottonwood, SSCA decided to join efforts with ACS. SSCA has now closed their location, donated all program furnishings and items to SJRC and their participants will have the opportunity to join SJRC. It has been a win-win for both companies and adults from all over the Verde will be able to enjoy an 11,000-square-foot space beautifully remodelled to meet their needs."
SJRC welcome adults who are dealing with health issues including, but not limited to, strokes, Alzheimer's Disease, Parkinson's Disease, memory loss, and various developmental disabilities, as well as those in need of socialization and stimulating activities. Participants benefit from medical monitoring, social interaction, nutritious meals and therapeutic recreational activities, counseling and support. Healthcare providers, community support organizations or the person themselves can make referrals. SJRC is also establishing contracts with the VA, ALTCS, NACOG and DDD.
SJRC Cottonwood will be under the direction of Amber McCabe, MSN, RN, RAC-CT. Amber, a registered nurse, holds her master's degree in nursing with an emphasis in education. She is a 2016 candidate for her Doctorate of Education in Organizational Leadership with an emphasis in Organizational Development.
The Cottonwood Chamber of Commerce with ACS will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony at SJRC's location 636 N. Main St. on Thursday, Feb. 27, 5 p.m. An open house will take place on Saturday, March 1, 2 p.m. The events, which include tours and refreshments, are open to the community.
