The Humane Society of Sedona will continue its collaboration with PetSmart to place adoptable pets into loving homes with the "Empty the Shelter" Fee Waived Adoption Event. Adoptable pets will be available at the Humane Society of Sedona (HSS) each day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and at PetSmart (2356 SR 89A, Sedona) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. At PetSmart the RV will be on site with kittens, cats, puppies and dogs all looking for their next home. Additionally there will be onsite food and fun for the whole family to enjoy while they are adopting their new pet.

End-of-summer revival at Lighthouse Baptist church
Lighthouse Baptist Church will hold its summer mini revival in Camp Verde. Pastor Don Randall has announced that Dave Smith will be the revival's special speaker. Lighthouse Baptist Church will have Sunday services at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., and services on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 6 p.m. Everyone is invited.

Sunday lunch at the VFW
The Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 6739 in Camp Verde will be hosting lunch on Sunday from noon till 4 p.m. They will be serving baked chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetables & lots of sides for a donation of $6 a plate.

Writers and Poets club to gather at Thanks a Latte
Beginning this week, and to continue the first Monday of each month, a new writers and poets club will gather at Thanks a Latte from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. People are invited to share what they have written, to learn more about writing and to participate in a critique session.

Verde Thumbs Garden Club meets
Get ready for the September "Tomato Tasting & Harvest" meeting, one of the highlights of the year. The Verde Thumbs Garden Club will have some great pictures of tomatoes growing in club members' gardens and many will bring tomatoes for everyone to sample. We had such a good time last year tasting lots of different varieties & this year there are several new ones to sample. This meeting is not just focused on tomatoes-veggies and gardens now being harvested will also be shared.

Keep Sedona Beautiful will resume its monthly Speaker Series on Wednesday with local artist Susie Reed, who will delight attendees with her amazing rock art photos, tales of colorful adventures and stories of how her passion for archaeology led her to become a major force in Southwest rock art preservation. Yarnell Fire survivor to speak in Camp Verde
Special guest Brendan McDonough, lone Hotshot survivor of the Yarnell Fire, will be at Parkside Church on Sunday in a special time to honor our local firefighters and the heroes lost in the Yarnell Fire. McDonough will share his incredible story of life, loss, and dealing with tragedy.

Archaeology talk in Camp Verde
Paul Lindberg has been a geologist with a number of metallic mineral mining companies since graduation in 1956 as a geological engineer from the University of Minnesota. On Tuesday, Lindberg will talk about the complex geologic structural of Central Arizona and how indigenous people used the landform.
The talk, titled "Geologic Features of Archaeological Sites in Northern Arizona and Adjacent Colorado Plateau," will be sponsored by the Verde Valley Archaeology Center at the Camp Verde Multi-Use Complex, located at 370 Camp Lincoln Road in Camp Verde. The talk will begin at 7 p.m.
Free Movie Night series begins in Camp Verde
Camp Verde Parks & Recreation and Community Library announce a Free Family Movie Night Series. Starting Friday night, enjoy a double feature movie night with free popcorn! An animated feature for all ages at 5:30 and a Tween and Teen adventure at 7:30.
