The “South Korean Minister of Veterans Affairs” from Seoul, Korea, will attend a Friday celebration hosted by Sedona’s Korean-American Association to celebrate 60 years’ Friendship and Gratitude since the cease-fire of the Korean Conflict. Local area veterans are invited to join the delegation at a 10 a.m. at Sedona Military Service Park, at the intersection of State Route 89A and Northview Drive. There will be a short musical performance and Korean War photo exhibition, followed at noon with a complimentary lunch at the Sedona Meditation Center, 340 Jordan Road, Sedona, to which all area veterans in cap or uniform are invited.

Breakfast at the VFW
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7400, at 705 E Aspen St., will be serving their monthly breakfast Saturday from 8:30 to 10 a.m. The $6 donation will get you two eggs to order, meat choice, hash browns, toast, coffee and juice. Biscuits & gravy and pancakes are also on the menu as meal or sides.
Your donations allow the VFW to continue to provide support to our local veterans and their families. Bring the family to the Post, enjoy an excellent meal and leave the dishwashing to us. The Post military museum is open for your viewing.

CPR update at Cornville meeting
The Cornville Community Association will meet on Wednesday at Oak Creek Elementary School at 7 p.m. Join them this month for a CPR update presented by Skip Heyer of Verde Valley Fire District. They will also have a progress report from Friends of Verde River Greenway on their campaign to stamp out invasive species.

Flag Day at Elks Lodge
Jerome Elks Lodges annual flag ceremony will be held at 11 a m on Saturday at the Elks Lodge, 100 Main St., Clarkdale. The ceremony is a very informative and educational . OLLI offers Happy Hour
Yavapai College’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) invites members of the community to partake in several free events this summer. The first is the OLLI Happy Hour, a free gathering for OLLI members and members of the community. This is a chance to socialize and to find out more about what makes OLLI special.
The OLLI Happy Hour will be spread over three sessions and will take place on both the Sedona and Clarkdale campuses on different days. Session One: OLLI – Past, Present, and Future. Monday 2:30-4 p.m. on the Clarkdale Campus in Building M Room 137 and on the Sedona Campus on Tuesday 2:30-4 p.m. in Room 34.

Safe Sitter Program returns

Boys and girls ages 11 to 13, will receive instruction in handling emergencies when caring for children, safe and nurturing childcare techniques, behavior management skills, and appropriate responses to medical emergencies at the Cottonwood Fire Department. Registration is $40 and includes a Safe Sitter Manual and completion card.

“Oh, My Aching Head” is the topic of the June Take Note Cottonwood Lecture Series, sponsored by Verde Valley Medical Center (VVMC). More 5K races in Sedona
Sedona Parks and Rec in partnership with Sedona Running Company are hosting 5K races around Posse Grounds Park for the 5K Summer Series: Let’s all run around the park! Two more races to go June 27 and July 25 with a 6 p.m. start time.

4th of July Parade in Camp Verde
The American Legion Family of Post #93 Camp Verde will once again be hosting the Fourth of July parade. The event is called the “FREE”dom Parade. It will start at 10 a.m. from ACE Hardware. There is no entry fee for the parade because it is free.
The American Legion will also be doling out free hotdogs, chips and water. This will be by the Town Ramada. The Lions Club will be having a free ice-cream social at the same place. You can also mosey over to 480 First Street to the Camp Verde Community Church where they will also be serving free hot dogs, etc.
They will also be providing children’s games and many other fun activities. And the Lions Club will be having an antique show. Parade applications can be found at Town Hall and the American Legion Post #93 on Third and Arnold streets.

Vacation Fire School
Boys and girls between the ages of 9 to 12 will participate in a wide variety of fire and life safety skills at the Cottonwood Fire Department, to include CPR, fire safety, physical fitness/obstacle courses, water safety and instruction in leadership and team building. Registration is $25.00 and includes a tee shirt and lunch prepared by the Cottonwood Firefighters on both days.
