Old-fashioned Easter Egg HuntMarch 30 City of Cottonwood’s 23rd annual free Old Fashioned Easter Egg Hunt will take place at Riverfront Park at 10 a.m., on Saturday.  Over $2,500 in toy-filled baskets, videos, stuffed animals and food coupons will be given away at this yearly special event. The program consists of loads of candy and plastic eggs filled with special prize tags and coupons that are scattered in five separate sections of the Ramada/Soccer field area of the park. The age divisions are set to allow for the greatest enjoyment by the children. The five egg hunting age divisions are: 1 to 17 month, 18 to 35 months, 3-4 years, 5-6 years, and 7-8 years old.  This event is made possible thanks to the generous donations of the Verde District Kiwanis Club, Wal-Mart Super Center, Pizza Hut, Sonic Drive-In, Taco Bell, Mc Donald’s, Panda Express, Planet Video and more.

Nazarene Yard/Bake Sale

March 22-23

Verde Valley Church of the Nazarene, 1710 S. 260, Cottonwood, is having its annual Yard Sale and Bake Sale this Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 pm. The Ladies Ministry is raising money to help with projects in the church and community.



Scout & Moose spaghetti dinner

March 23

You are invited to a Scout & Moose Lodge cooked spaghetti dinner at the Moose Lodge in Clarkdale on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. This is a fundraiser to help send the boys to summer camp. Cost: Adults $8; Seniors $6; Kids under 12 $4; Family of 4 $20.



Fund created for Charlotte Brand benefit

March 24

A donation fund has been opened in the name of Charlotte Brand at National Bank of Arizona, 1 E. 89A, Cottonwood. Call (928) 340-1020. Charlotte was in a near fatal car accident on Cornville Road in January and spent 18 days in the hospital. She need help with medical expenses, full-time care and physical therapy.

Sunday there will be a benefit concert at noon at the Pub & Grub in Cottonwood with live music all day.



Back Yard Garden Expo

March 24

Learn how you can raise chickens in your back yard, save seeds from your tastiest veggies and how to grow great tomatoes. The third annual Back Yard Garden Expo, sponsored by The Verde Thumbs Garden Club, will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. at Old Town Center for the Arts, Fifth and Main in Cottonwood.  Bring your garden tools and knives for the vendor ‘Runs With Scissors’ to sharpen.

There will be lots of demonstrations by a variety of vendors.   Fun for all and free to everyone.



VVMC hosts emergency drill

March 25

Verde Valley Medical Center, Cottonwood Police Department, Verde Valley Fire Department and other Emergency Medical Services in the Verde Valley will be participating in a preparedness exercise on Monday. The early morning scenario will be situated around an “armed gunman” at VVMC.

“Drill in progress” signs will be deployed during the drill along with evaluators who can alert staff and visitors. The exercise area will have restricted access during the timeframe of the drill but will not interrupt patient flow or movement.



Research your family heritage

March 26

There will be a discussion group on researching your family heritage, lead by Ohio author, Jami Lynn Sands at the Sedona Public Library, 3250 White Bear Road, on Tuesday at 2 p.m. The public is invited.  For further information, call 740 584-5673.



See arrival of Vietnam Wall replica

March 27

On Wednesday, the American Veterans Traveling Tribute replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall will arrive in the Verde Valley to be on display in Cottonwood. The transport vehicle will arrive in Camp Verde, at the Chevron station on the west side of I-17, at approximately 3 p.m.  It will be met there by a host of motorcyclists, many of whom are veterans, the Purple Heart truck, and Schneider Trucking’s Ride of Pride truck, and be escorted into Cottonwood via Hwy 260, Hwy 89A, Main Street to Mingus Avenue, and west to the site, at Cottonwood Middle School, 500 E. Mingus Ave., where it will be erected on Thursday morning.  Arrival time and transit through Cottonwood will be between 3:30 and 4 p.m.

This will be the first time ever that a Traveling Wall has come to the lower Verde Valley, and we ask that citizens give it a rousing welcome. Anyone wishing to greet the Wall upon it’s arrival can assemble anywhere along the escort route, but ensure your safety.  Bring Flags, signs, lights, but especially an enthusiastic welcome for this historic event.



Wednesday Night Supper and Bible Study

March 27

Wednesday Night Supper and Bible Study starts with supper at 5:30 p.m., Bible Study at 6:45 p.m. at New Beginnings Church of the Nazarene, 644 S. Seventh St., Camp Verde. They are studying in the book of Hebrews. Feed the body as well as the soul. Everyone is welcome. For questions or more information call Karen at 928-567-6336.



Verde Valley Archaeology Fair returns

March 30-31

The Verde Valley Archaeology Center will hold the second annual Verde Valley Archaeology Fair during Arizona Archaeology and Heritage Awareness Month on Saturday and Sunday, March 30-31, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Verde Valley Archaeology Fair will be held in the Camp Verde Community Center, 395 S. Main St. The fair is free and features archaeology-themed programs and interactive activities for the whole family.

Adult Education Class: Basic Computer

April 1-June 12

The Camp Verde Adult Education and Enrichment Center is pleased to announce the following Free Adult Education Class in Camp Verde at 395 S. Main St., Room 305: “Basic Computer for Enjoyment” for persons who just want the very “basics” of computer skills at 9:30 a.m.-12:20 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays.

The computer class has a 10-student limit so call the Center at (928) 567-3187 to register.
