MUHS Title I Parent Survey

Thru April 2

MUHS is asking parents of Title I students to please take a few minutes and answer the short Title I Parent Surveys located at www.mingusunion.com. Click on the link titled "Title I Parent Survey". Find the survey(s) that match your child's classes and answer the 5 questions. Your input will better assist us in providing programs that benefit the students at MUHS. The results of this survey, along with other pertinent information will be discussed at a meeting at MUHS Library, on Tuesday, April 2, 4 p.m. Thank you for your participation. Family Game Night

VVPOA to meet

March 11

Verde Village Property Owners' Assn. will hold its monthly general meeting at the Clubhouse at 4855 Broken Saddle Drive. At this meeting, nominations for the 2013-14 officers of the Association will be made. The offices of President and the Board of Directors will be open for nominations. Elections will be held at the general meeting on April 8. Please make a note to attend both of these meetings to vote for your choices for officers for the upcoming year. This is your Association and your votes are important in selecting who will guide your Association for the upcoming year. We hope to see a big turnout of members at both meetings. Learn Hebrew Letters Yoga

March 12

Hebrew Letters Yoga Class on Tuesday mornings is for all levels of students, gentle beginner to experienced, based on the yoga postures resembling Hebrew letters. No experience with Hebrew or Yoga necessary. The fun new yoga class by Rosalie Malter is 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. through April 23 in the Social Hall at the Jewish Community of Sedona and the Verde Valley, 100 Meadowlark Drive, Sedona.

Verde Thumbs Garden Club meets

March 12

The Verde Thumbs Garden Club discussion this month will be about Critter Prevention! What can you do about gophers, javelina, deer, rats, and other critters that like your veggies as much as you do? Are you losing the battle? Come find out what methods can be used to control them, repel them or how to protect your vegetables.

They will also be discussing spring planting tips and the varieties of veggies that work for our area. Meet at 6 p.m. at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, in the Community Room, southwest corner of Willard & Mingus in Cottonwood. Wednesday Night Supper and Bible Study starts with supper at 5:30 p.m., Bible Study at 6:45 p.m. at New Beginnings Church of the Nazarene, 644 S. Seventh St., Camp Verde. Rough Riders at Sedona Museum

March 13

Learn about "1898 in the West: How the Spanish American War affected AZ and the USA" with the Arizona Rough Riders Historical Association in a living history presentation at Sedona Heritage Museum 735 Jordan Road. The free event is 10-11 a.m.

Mingus Girls host basketball camp

March 14-16

Mingus Girls Basketball program is having a basketball camp Thursday and Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This camp is for all sixth, seventh, and eighth grade girls. The camp will be held at Cottonwood Middle School. The players will learn basic fundamentals of the game as well as dribbling, shooting, and passing technique. They will also receive a T-shirt for attending the camp. Lunch will be provided for the players on that Saturday.

Dance to Clusterfolk

Swing your lad or lassie to the live music of Clusterfolk with calling by Judy Zeidel. Come solo or with friends; all ages and skill levels are welcome. Do the hula

March 20

Polynesian Dance classes will be offered through the Camp Verde Parks and Rec on Mondays and Wednesdays for girls ages 3-12. Kathy Reay, the kumu hula (hula teacher) will instruct dances from the Polynesian islands of Hawaii, Tahiti and New Zealand (Maori).

Sign-ups and an informational meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 20, at 5:30 p.m. in Room 204 at the Camp Verde Parks and Rec. Classes will be held for ages 3-6 on Mondays 5-5:30 p.m. at $5/class. Ages 7-10 will be held on Mondays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at $10/class. Classes for girls ages 11-13 will be held on Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

“Obesity, the dangerous impact on your health” is the topic of the next Take Note Camp Verde Lecture Series sponsored by Verde Valley Medical Center (VVMC). Verde Valley Weavers & Spinners Guild sale

March 21

Thursday, the Verde Valley Weavers & Spinners Guild will be having their annual sale at St Andrews Episcopal Church on Aryo Pinon Road in Sedona. There will be a choice assortment of yarns, fibers and useful items for all fiber and related crafts. Felting equipment and fiber for spinning and dyeing, basket-making supplies and tools, dyes, and equipment, spinning supplies, all will be available at very reasonable prices. After refreshments and coffee at 9:30 a.m. the Guild will hold their usual business meeting at 10. By 11 the sale will commence and last until 1 p.m.  For more information, call 282-5134.



Northern AZ Watercolor Society Meeting

March 22

The next meeting of NAWS (Northern Arizona Watercolor Society) will be on Friday at 9 a.m. with a trip around the USA via watercolor art.

Following a short business meeting, there will be a “free for all” display of individual local artists, not affiliated with a NAWS critique group.

Monthly meetings are usually on the fourth Friday of each month, at the Sedona United Methodist Church, located at 110 Indian Cliffs Road, just off State Route 179 in the Chapel area.

World fusion duo at ChocolaTree

Wind & Fire is an award winning world fusion duo that features Mark Holland (Native American Flutes / World Flutes) and N. Scott Robinson (World Percussion).

They will perform Saturday from noon to 1:30 p.m. at ChocolaTree in Sedona. Cover is $15.



March Diabetes Support Group

“Reducing the Risk of Heart Disease” is the topic of the March Diabetes Support Group, sponsored by Verde Valley Medical Center’s Diabetes Education Program.

The free support group is 5-7 p.m. Monday in VVMC’s Conference Rooms B and C, 269 S. Candy Lane. The group is open to all members of the community.

VVMC offers free Diabetes Expo

Verde Valley Medical Center’s Diabetes Education Program is participating in the American Diabetes Association national Diabetes Alert Day by sponsoring a free Diabetes Expo.

Verde Valley Equine Festival 2013

April 19-21

The 2013 Verde Valley Equine Festival has been designed by the Rio Verde Roverettes to showcase and promote everything for the Arizona horse communities.

The event takes place in the Cottonwood Equestrian Center.

Offering the greatest opportunity for educating and networking, from Western to English disciplines, Dressage and more, the 3-day agenda includes outstanding horse clinics, celebrated experts and professionals from all aspects of equine health and well being.

Vendor booths will be providing a variety of information geared for today’s horse owners, along with new innovations in products and accessories, trends and sciences including nutrition.

The Arizona Horseman’s Challenge, a brainchild of Jody Swink’s “No Sweat” Natural Horsemanship, makes its dynamic debut this year. They will compete throughout the weekend, each trainer working a young colt of their choosing. In addition, there will be a 2-Day EXCA (Extreme Cowboy Assoc.) competition featured, the sport designed by master horseman Craig Cameron.
