COTTONWOOD - Steve Epperson Jr. was promoted in December to general manager of Larry Green Chevrolet and Hyundai of Cottonwood. As general manager, Epperson is responsible for both dealerships, including the collision center, towing, sales, finance, leasing, accounting and parts and service.

Epperson started with Larry Green Chevrolet about 10 years ago as finance manager. After a year and a half, he was promoted. He has served as sales manager for Larry Green Chevrolet at both the original location at 737 S. Main St. and at the new location at 2050 Rodeo Dr.

"When we got the Hyundai franchise about four years ago, they gave me the opportunity to open that store," Epperson said. He was general sales manager of the Hyundai of Cottonwood dealership for four years.

Larry Green Chevrolet moved into the Rodeo Drive location six years ago, and Hyundai of Cottonwood also moved to that location two years ago.

Larry Green is in the process of constructing a new building for Hyundai of Cottonwood right behind the existing Larry Green building on Rodeo Drive.

"We expect to be break ground in the next 30 to 60 days," Epperson said.

He said business is going great. "The new year has been a fresh start.

"The two dealerships we have in town are just a small part of the Green Auto Group," Epperson explained. The auto group includes 10 auto dealerships in Arizona, California, Idaho and Montana. The group includes a boat dealership in Kalispell, Mont.

"One thing we are really proud of is that we can take care of any automotive needs," Epperson said. "We can take care of it right here in this one facility."

That service includes the Internet.

"We do a lot of Internet sales," he said. "I encourage people to go to one of our websites." He said there is a link on each website to every other website.

The local sales teams can hook up a customer with a vehicle from any of the other Larry Green dealerships.

"We run our own transport truck," Epperson pointed out. "It gives us an edge in providing service for our customers."

He said that the Larry Green Chevrolet and Hyundai of Cottonwood dealerships offer one of the largest inventories, both in previously owned and new vehicles, in Northern Arizona.

Epperson has lived in the Verde Valley for 37 years. He is married with four children.

Local artists and musicians get a lot of space in this newspaper. Why not successful businesspeople?

These are small town papers and thank you Western News reporters for bringing us positive stories about our neighbors. Frankly I'm often overwhelmed and frustrated by all the negative news and look forward to the half full glass perspective.

As a long time reader of the Verde Independent, I have noticed that every Friday there is an area in the printed edition that is devoted to one or more local businesses. Not only businesses that have paid advertising nor those located only in Cottonwood, but large and small including photos of the owners or employees. I found the most interesting part of this item not to be the particular employee who was promoted, but that Larry Green is not a small local business, but has many other locations.

bitter town!...

who wizzed in your wheaties this morning?

this is a small town 'rag' and as such it might cover such trivial issues as a 'home town boy' done good.

if the area does not live up to your grand requirements for journalism please feel free to start your own 'rag'... perhaps the 'bitter town weekly' ?

and in closing...

Great job Steve! our daughters are good friends and your success will lead to success for all of us... even the biter ones.

This is news? Or an ad? Youre journalists are you? I think not. You know that completely abandoning all thought of journalistic value in order to please advertizers is the end of your next job, dont you? This rag is doomed if this is where they've sunk. Your next potential employer of a journalist is going to read this "report". You realize that, yeah? Wake up.
