2/16/2012 1:11:00 PM Kimbler to address ‘tough’ United Methodist Women
United Methodist Women: The Toughest in the West: That is the title of the message to be given Sunday, Feb. 19 at the 9 and 11 a.m. worship services at Mountain View United Methodist Church, 901 S. 12th St.
The guest speaker will be Susan Kimbler, executive director the Navajo United Methodist Center (NUMC) at Farmington, N.M.
She comes to Cottonwood as the keynoter for United Methodist Women’s Sunday at the Cottonwood church. NUMC is a National Mission institution of United Methodist Women.
A lawyer and former prosecutor in Ohio, Mrs. Kimbler lived at Durango, Colo., for 12 years before joining the New Beginnings Transitional Domestic Violence Shelter at NUMC in 2009. She said she is a lifelong “Methodist woman.”
NUMC is a non-profit agency that provides direct services and transitional living shelter for women and their children who are survivors of domestic violence and or homeless.
The center’s service area includes the Four Corners region and the Navajo Nation. Ninety percent of the women served are Navajo.
