2/16/2012 1:05:00 PM Reflecting on last words of Christ for Lenten series
At Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church, this year’s theme is “Words That Last Forever,” featuring the last seven words of Jesus.
These services are based in part on reflections of Arden Mead (a Lutheran pastor and author who died in 2006). They begin on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 22, at noon and 7 p.m. with worship focusing on Luke 23:34, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”
Lenten Worship services continue from Ash Wednesday through Easter. After Ash Wednesday, services take place on Wednesdays at noon, and Thursday evenings at 7 p.m., preceded by a soup supper on Thursday at 6 p.m.
The Thursday evening services feature the beautiful Holden Evening Prayer liturgy.
