Verde Valley Ballet will be holding auditions for the Verde Valley Ballet Performing Arts Company on Friday, Aug. 14 at 5 pm for dancers between the ages of 13 to 19. "Considerations on the Journey of Life" is the topic of the August Take Note: Sedona lecture, which is sponsored by Northern Arizona Healthcare's Verde Valley Medical Center. The lecture will feature interventional cardiologist Bruce Peek, M.D.

Dr. Peek will discuss the most commonly asked questions about unexpected health events; how medical decisions are made for you when you can't make your own; and the importance of planning ahead when it comes to your health.

The Cottonwood Public Library is developing a program for local artists to set up and make art while patrons can watch, ask questions and get inspired by the art making process. All forms of art media will be considered. A small spot will be provided by the parking lot door where they can display some of their art and practice their craft. Two to three hour time slots will be available and there will be three artists throughout the day. Local guitarist Ron McLain will perform Live at Studio B on Thursday, July 23, at 7 p.m.
Ron McLain has been playing music in Northern AZ for 35 years. He has produced concerts and festivals and helped to create work for many local and national musicians.
He is a well-known figure in the local entertainment scene and a respected member of the community.
McLain plays guitar, harmonica and is an accomplished singer. He has recorded several albums of his original music and cover songs of many other artists. He plays blues, country, classic rock and enjoys writing and singing love songs from many eras.
