'Cookies for Kids Cancer' Benefit Car Wash

June 28

Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Denny's Restaurant in Camp Verde is hosting a benefit car wash to raise money for Cookies for Kids Cancer, which is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charity. Founded in California, the organization's focus is to raise money for pediatric cancer research. Cancer claims the lives of more children annually than any other disease, and 25 percent of all children diagnosed with pediatric cancer don't win the battle.

Our goal is to help decrease that number. The store's goal for funds raised is $4,000, and they are about half way there.  There is no set amount to donate to the car wash, which will be in Denny's back parking lot, located on State Route 260 behind Starbucks near the Interstate 17 interchange.

Anyone interested in volunteering can contact Patsy Hanan at Denny's (928) 567-9505. Check out the Cookies for Kids Cancer  website at www.cookiesforkidscancer.org.

Following the film, Itzhak Magal, husband of Rabbi Magal, will speak about his own experiences as a 7-year-old boy living through that airlifted transport of over 100,00 Iraqi Jews, difficult life in a makeshift tent-camp, and acculturation into Israeli society.
