Turkey donation sought for Hearts for the Hungry and Homeless

Hearts for the Hungry and Homeless (HHH) is operating a food pantry in one of the classrooms at Mingus Union High School and is serving about 150 meals per week to students.

A large percentage of students at Mingus High are separated from their immediate family and are living in poverty. In our ongoing effort to serve these students, HHH would like to provide turkeys for Thanksgiving. The goal is 200 turkeys.

In order to do this, we need the help of friends and neighbors. Please consider supporting this Mission. HHH is a non-profit 501-C3 and donations are tax deductible.

We also have the ongoing need to stock the food pantry and your monthly donation will help provide a cup of soup, lunch meat, bread, granola bars, fresh produce, hot dogs, peanut butter and hygiene items to those in need.

Please send donations to "Hearts for the Hungry and Homeless" 1125 S. Page Springs Road, Cornville, AZ. 86325. 928-254-7069

Dan Engler to perform at Living Room Music Series

On Oct. 16, the Living Room Music Series at CPL Sedona will feature Cornville singer-songwriter Dan Engler with his program called "Simply Stated and Simply Played."

He will perform his original folk music and talk about folk music origins and his own song-writing process. In addition, Engler will share songs from the deepest corners of the Americana-Roots-Folks music treasure chest.

Engler pens his own original story-telling songs that reflect his life experiences over the past 40 years in Arizona.

His songs combine wit, wisdom and an uncanny knack for expressing real-life-truths. His straight-forward guitar playing adds a folksy counterpoint to his "down home" lyrics.

An avid student of music and the icons of folk, rock, and blues, Dan's observations are reflected in the crafting of his songs, flavored with metaphor and experience from his 40 years in Arizona and the Southwest.

"My music is simply stated and simply played," said Engler. "They are more stories than songs and the hope is they are shared in a way through which the listener can see some aspect of their own life."

The Center for Positive Living Sedona is located in the Village of Oak Creek at 45 Castle Rock Road.
