Clarkdale needs Library Board member
The Town of Clarkdale is seeking an applicant to fill one vacant seat on the Library Advisory Board.
The Library Advisory Board advises the Town Council and staff regarding the general priorities of the Clark Memorial Library and suggests/promotes fund-raising ideas to finance projects in relation to the library operations.
The Board consists of five representatives. The Board currently meets on the first Thursday of every other month beginning in January.
Applications are being accepted for the term beginning Oct. 1, 2013. Clarkdale residents interested in serving should submit an application to the Town Hall Administration Building.

Sedona Marathon launches T-shirt Design Contest
The Sedona Chamber of Commerce, for the first time ever, is offering the opportunity for all ages and abilities to enter a t-shirt design for the ninth annual Sedona Marathon Event on Feb. 1, 2014.
Designs must be submitted by Sept. 16 to email@example.com.
Up to five design finalists will be chosen by the Sedona Marathon Event Leadership Team.
Once the finalists have been selected, Sedona Marathon Facebook fans will vote for the winner.
The chosen art design will appear on over 2,500 T-shirts given to registrants at Packet Pick-Up and on race day.
The winning art design will be featured on the website, social media outlets, and e-newsletters.
The winner will be recognized at the Award Ceremony on race day and be given a prize of $250 cash.

Shri Blues in Clarkdale Concert
On Saturday, Clarkdale Community Services - Parks & Recreation is proud to present the Shri Blues Band. They will perform 7-9 p.m. at the Clarkdale Town Park gazebo located at 1001 Main Street, Clarkdale. This concert is free to the public.

Camp Twilight for Girl Scouts
Girl Scouts are having Camp Twilight "The Wild West" in August. The camp will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Verde Valley Fairgrounds. Activities will include camp songs, crafts and activities related to our theme of "The Wild West." The cost is $15 for the whole week; this includes snacks.
If you have a girl that is currently in Girl Scouts or wants to be in Girl Scouts, this is the place to be. They will have activities for all ages of girls and then on Friday they will have a training session for adults to become leaders. The older girls will have classes to learn a skill such as crochet, knitting and others. If you are able to teach girls to knit or crochet they need your help, or if you are able to teach other classes please let them know.
Registration will be on Monday, Aug. 19, at the Verde Valley Fairgrounds at 5:30 p.m. Girls can attend one or all nights for the one low cost of $15.

PBS hosts community information event on upgrade
Eight, Arizona PBS will be conducting a community information event for Verde Valley area residents to learn about the expanded PBS programming available to them courtesy of the recently upgraded digital broadcast signal via newly installed rural repeater transmitters. The event, presented by General Manager Kelly McCullough and PBS support staff, will also highlight specific instructions on how to receive the new digital signal and a public Q&A.
The event will be Friday at the Cottonwood Recreation Center (Cottonwood Room), 150 S. Sixth St., Cottonwood, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
