On Saturday evening, the National Park Service invites the public to Montezuma Castle National Monument for a Full Moon Flute Concert with Sedona musician Wolfs Robe.
The gates will open at 7 p.m., and the concert will last from 8 until 9:15 p.m. Enjoy the sunset as the music begins, then watch the Verde limestone cliffs and Montezuma Castle glow as they’re bathed in the light of the rising moon. Luminarias will cast a soft glow on the path from the visitor center to the concert location, as well as the Beaver Creek overlook and Castle A. Visitors and the local community are invited to stay as late as 10 p.m. to enjoy the scene.
There is no charge for admission or the concert. Red-filtered flashlights are encouraged. Montezuma Castle is located off Interstate 17, exit 289, 2800 N. Montezuma Castle Highway. Quail Country Quilters meet
Quail Country Quilters will begin with the business meeting, followed by members' Show & Tell. This will be followed by a Trunk Show presented by various members of the guild. Missoula Children's Theatre's 'The Secret Garden'
The Missoula Children's Theater, under the auspices once again as in years past of the Verde Valley Concert Association, is presenting "The Secret Garden" on Saturday at the Cottonwood Civic Center in Old Town Cottonwood. The performances will be at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.
The cast comprises dozens of local children who were auditioned at the beginning of the week, and who are made performance-ready due to the efforts of a group of dedicated professionals who are the backbone of the Missoula Children's Theater.
The first concert in the Verde Valley Concert Association's 2013-2014 season will be on Oct. 14.

Sunday lunch at the VFW
The Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 6739 in Camp Verde will be hosting lunch on Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. They will be serving B-B-Q ham sandwiches & lots of sides for a donation of $6 a plate. Come on in & enjoy great food, good company & have some fun. Proceeds go to day care at the VFW National Home for Children. Members & guests welcome.
Verde Valley Sustainability meeting
Tuesday, Verde Valley Sustainability will be showing the film "Genetic Roulette." This is a powerful film by Jefferey Smith. It is about GMO's. (Genetic Modified Organism's) It will talk about what they are, how they are artificially inserted into out food, the health threats they pose to us and animals that consume these genetically engineered food products and how we can avoid them. They will have a brief Q/A after the film.
