Main Street in Old Town Cottonwood. The one-hour event starting at noon will be by donation only and all are welcome. Participants will learn about the causes of stress on the physical and emotional body, as well as tools you can begin practicing right away. Democrats host free movie night

May 7

Democrats of the Red Rocks host Free Movie Night on Tuesday at 6 p.m., featuring a special showing of Bill Moyers’ The United States of ALEC, exposing Arizona’s political corruption.

Spring Fashion Show/Luncheon at Pine Shadows

On Thursday, bring your friends, neighbors, relatives to Pine Shadows Adult Community, 2050 West State Route 89A, Cottonwood.  New Image Fashions’ Don Scott will outfit resident models with the latest brand name spring/summer fashions.

You can purchase them at huge discounts from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Join them for lunch at noon for $5.  Reservations not necessary but you can call Linda at 649-3426 if you want to reserve places.

Music at the Museum

Dances of Universal Peace

May 11

The public is invited to join in an evening Dances of Universal Peace on Saturday, 7-9 p.m. at Unity Church of Sedona.

They welcome people of all ages, abilities and traditions.  

These Dances are moving mandalas and sung prayers and meditations, a celebration and experiential voyage into the love, truth and beauty that are at the heart of all religions and spiritual teachings worldwide.

No previous experience necessary.   Unity Church is located at 65 Deer Trail Drive in Sedona. Suggested donation is $8.

No one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Verde Valley Republicans host governor candidate

May 15

The Verde Valley Republican Women’s May meeting will feature Hugh Hallman, former mayor of Tempe, who will introduce his candidacy  for Arizona Governor and speak about his background and credentials.

The meeting will be held Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. (doors open at 11 a.m. for meet and greet) at the Los Abrigados Resort at Highway 179 and Portal Lane in Sedona. Lunch is $16 all inclusive.

Grand opening at White Hills Gallery’s new space

May 31

White Hills Gallery announced a new date for its grand opening at its new location at 325 S. Main St., in downtown Camp Verde on Friday, 5-8 p.m. They will be opening the new building with a solo show by Camp Verde artist Vada Lovato.

There will also be a ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration for one of the businesses the gallery will be sharing the space with, Verde Portal, a business incubator specializing in Cultural Entrepreneurship within the Verde Valley. For the night, there will be wine, hors d’oeuvres, music, beautiful art, a community art project, and more.



Junior Ranger Camp

June 11-14

The first of this summer’s free Junior Ranger Camps at Montezuma Well is the second week in June. This session is for all those returning from previous year’s camps.

Join a National Park Ranger for an exciting four-day learning experience at the Montezuma Well unit of Montezuma Castle National Monument from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. Junior Rangers will learn about the prehistoric Sinagua culture, geology, archaeology, and preservation through hiking, discussions, and hands-on activities.

Starting May 15, Camp reservations can be made by completing the registration packet. Registration forms can be obtained from the website below or by calling (928) 567-3322, ext. 1.



5K Run/Walk for Jacob Teague Memorial Foundation

May 18

The Jacob Teague Memorial Foundation, helping Verde Valley law enforcement agencies afford K-9 officers, will host a 5K Run/Walk at Butler Park in Camp Verde on Saturday starting at 7 a.m.

Registration for the run costs $25 and includes a T-shirt.
