VV Computer Club Meetings

Valentine’s Day at the Ranch House
Thursday, the Ranch House Restaurant, 4250 N Montezuma Ave - Lake Montezuma, will have a special Valentine’s Day menu from the staff. This includes surf & turf, mediterranean chicken breast, and sw shrimp puff. however our featured desserts are what many of you may want to experience: Decadent chocolate heart with crème Anglaise and fresh berries, Chocolate mousse with port ganache and whipped cream, and raspberry cream tart.

Special VNRCD meeting
The Board of Supervisors of the Verde Natural Resource Conservation District has a special meeting for the month of February. The board will meet the third Friday of the month to review the two-year plan, at the Cottonwood Middle School, 500 E Mingus, Room 809, Cottonwood. All are welcome. Dinner at the VFW
Friday the General Crook Chapter of the VFW Riders will have a dinner at VFW Post 6739 in Camp Verde from 5 to 7 p.m. Dinner will be stuffed bell peppers, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetables, salad & rolls. Donation of $7 per person. Live music by Steve Hicks.
Simcha Shabbat at JCSVV
Friday, Rabbi Alicia Magal leads Erev Shabbat services beginning at 7:30 p.m. at Jewish Community of Sedona and the Verde Valley.
This is Simcha Shabbat, when people with birthdays, anniversaries or other joyous occasions receive a special blessing. Oneg refreshments prepared by the men of the JCSVV in honor of all the hard working women volunteers of the synagogue. Come for a joyous service of traditional and contemporary prayers, readings, songs, and a Torah reading. Guests are welcome!

Jerome Elks Lodge Sweetheart Dinner Dance
Jerome Elks Lodge, located at 100 S. Broadway in Clarkdale will host their Annual Sweetheart Dinner Dance on Saturday.
The Lounge will open at 5 p.m., a pork loin dinner will be served at 6 p.m. and dancing to Jox in the Box will follow dinner.
Jox in the Box is a popular DJ from the area who plays hundreds of tunes, and requests are always welcomed.

Proceeds from the evening will benefit The Arizona Elks Association which provides support to the Steele Memorial Hospital in Tucson where they are pioneering treatment for premature baby’s lungs
Music at the Museum
The Plein Aire String Quartet returns to the Sedona Heritage Museum on Saturday for Music at the Museum.
Their program continues their exploration of Haydn’s quartet zoo with “The Donkey” (Op. 76, no2).
This very late quartet of Haydn was written when a young Ludwig van Beethoven was writing his first batch of quartets (Opus 18).
Plein Aire will play one of those, also (No. 5 in A Major) to help listeners compare.
This concert is at 1 p.m. at the Museum, 735 Jordan Road, Sedona. Charge is $5. Call (928) 282-7038.
Leap Frog litter pick-up event
There is a quarterly “Leap Frog” highway litter event scheduled for Saturday. Many Adopt-A-Highway groups will be on Highway 260 and Highway 89A during this “Leap Frog” litter event to restore the beauty to “America & Arizona the Beautiful.”

VVPOA Highway Cleanup
The VVPOA will be doing a highway cleanup on Saturday. They will meet at the One in Christ Church at 8 a.m.
This church is across highway 260 from the Verde Valley Fire Station. All volunteers should bring their own gloves and wear long sleeved shirts and pants. There are thorns out there.
Also bring your own water. Nail sticks and grabbers will be available. ADOT provides the bags and safety vests.

Sunday lunch at the VFW
The Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 6739 in Camp Verde will be hosting lunch on Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
They will be serving pork loin, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetables & lots of sides for a donation of $6 a plate.
Come on in & enjoy great food, have some fun, enjoy good company. Proceeds go to VFW National Home for Children. Members & guests welcome.
MMA Sweetheart Run for Treakle children
Modified Motorcycle Association of Arizona’s 14th Annual Sweetheart Run is Sunday, with registration starting at 9:30 am. at the 10/12 Lounge in Clarkdale.
The end party is at Pub & Grub. The Dice Run is $15 single rider/$20 with passenger.
Proceeds benefit the Treakle and Martinez children, whose mother was recently killed.
Food, games, raffle, 50/50, live music from The Mods.
Rainbow Acres presents free Meadowlark concert
Musical duo Meadowlark, with guitarist Rick Cyge and flutist Lynn Trombetta, creates unique sounds and tunes in a free concert this Sunday at 2 p.m. This part of the Fine Arts Series.
“Original New World Music” is the next performance in the Rainbow Acres Fine Arts Series. It will include influences from Celtic, African and Mediterranean music, as well as popular favorites from artists such as The Beatles and Van Morrison. This concert is open to the public at no charge, with light refreshments to follow, at the Palmer Community Center on the campus of Rainbow Acres, located at 2120 W. Reservation Loop Road off Middle Verde Road in Camp Verde.

BVCS hosts Early Childhood Education Conference
Buena Vista Children’s Services and Yavapai College are holding their 18th annual Early Childhood Education Conference entitled “Arizona on the Move” on Saturday at the newly reconstructed Clarkdale Campus of Yavapai College. The conference, which will run from 9 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., will feature a keynote address by Nadine Mathis Basha.
Healthy Kidneys, Healthy Lives
“Healthy Kidneys, Healthy Lives” is the topic of the February Diabetes Support Group, sponsored by Verde Valley Medical Center’s Diabetes Education Program. The free support group is 5-7 p.m., Monday in VVMC’s Conference Rooms B and C, 269 S. Candy Lane. The meeting will feature guest speaker Thomas Neumann, M.D.
