Benefit Spaghetti Dinner
American Legion Post 93 Ladies Auxiliary in Camp Verde is hosting a benefit spaghetti dinner on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. Cost is $6 a plate.
Camp Style Breakfast on the Patio
Cottonwood American Legion Post 25 in Cottonwood will host a “Camp Style Breakfast on the Patio” on Saturday morning from 7 to 10 a.m. (or until the food is gone). Members and their guests will be able to enjoy Dutch oven biscuits with gravy, sizzling bacon, sausage, eggs, fried potatoes, fried onions, cowboy coffee and juice. The lounge will be offering early bird drink specials to compliment the breakfast. It’s going to be a country good time. A $6 donation will be accepted. On-duty police and fire personnel that stop by will be treated to a complimentary breakfast. Sweet Poison, a free health forum
Please join this very informative program on sugar and artificial sweeteners. You will learn which ones are healthful and which are harmful, presented by Malter Institute, Rick Malter, Ph.D., nutrition counselor, and Rosalie Malter, M.A. life and health coach. Land Preservation meeting
Verde Valley Land Preservation will hold its annual meeting on Monday at 1 p.m. in the Jerome Town Hall. 2012’s accomplishments will be reviewed and officers for 2013 elected. They will discuss goals for the upcoming year and how to begin their fulfillment. The public is invited.
VFW Ladies Auxiliary Meeting

Learn to Square Dance
The Cottonwood Roadrunners will be starting Square Dance Classes on Tuesdays beginning Jan. 15 and running through May 28 at the Cottonwood Civic Center, 805 N. Main St, Cottonwood. Mainstream (Beginners) is at 6:30 p.m. and there will be Plus dancing class at 8:15 to 9:30 p.m. Angels are always appreciated. Visitors from other clubs are always welcome. The Jan. 15 Lesson is free to beginners. After that the lessons are $5 (children with an adult $2) per person per night or $68 per person to pre-pay the entire 17 weeks. The Verde Valley Republican Women’s January meeting will feature speakers Scott Mascher, Yavapai County Sheriff, who will discuss current law enforcement issues, and Paul Friedman, Phd, who has a presentation entitled “Bridging the Political Divide: How Republicans and Democrats can dialogue about their differences.”

Verde Valley Homeless Count planning meeting
Verde Valley Homeless Coalition has scheduled a planning meeting on Tuesday at 10 a.m. for this year’s Homeless Winter Count, a survey of the homeless population in the Verde Valley. The meeting will be at the Loft, above Catholic Charities in Old Town Cottonwood.

Cottonwood-Oak Creek School District will hold an unveiling ceremony of a bronze statue of former teacher and Tavasci Elementary School dean Stacy Kramer at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The statue was created by renowned artist John Waddell.

Coach Tom Henry Reunion
Former Mingus basketball coach Tom Henry would like to reconnect and visit with his ballplayers.
