1/25/2014 2:50:00 PM Letter: Dismiss Oliphant's warnings at your peril
One of Bob Oliphant's strong suits is that he has a low tolerance for what he perceives as arrogance of power. His weak suit may be impatience with those same public servants who believe they are doing the right thing, too.
Bob is a legal scholar and passionate advocate. He lends his considerable intellect and mid-western hard work ethic to the benefit of those with less time and resources to study issues thoroughly. He holds your feet to the fires of fact, reason, and logic. You dismiss him at the peril of acting against your own self-interests.
He isn't going to let you make a decision just because it is expedient. He isn't going to allow you to ignore constituencies just because you can.
It is sometimes said, where there is smoke; there is fire. Bob Oliphant is telling us there is a lot of smoke out there. We owe it to ourselves to pay attention.
