Letter: VVMC commentary right on target

Editor:

Your editorial regarding observations at VVMC was right on target.

I have been a VVMC Board Member for 19 years and have seen our hospital grow in outstanding service to the Verde Valley Community as evidenced by the ad in the same edition of the paper.

I will put service at VVMC up against any rural hospital in Arizona.

Ron Barber

Article comment by: I will not name the practice but I know who it is. There is no other office here to go to.

I knew this would rise to the surface sooner or later. The ladies, if you can call them that, in the office are horrible. So rude and far from professional. The one that has her own office right there in front walks around like she is royalty. Klip klop heels and squeaky voice and will not talk about your bill even though it is her job apparently. I have to admit the doctor fixed my problem but what a jerk he was to me and I have heard him be loud to others. The hospital did buy them and my cousin says the hospital does not have any code of conduct policy. Our hospital has a monopoly on healthcare in the whole valley and they are abusing the power. Why do they act so elite and self centered. This newspaper is a wonderful tool for the people to air their thoughts. Thank you Mr. Engler for your service to the community.

Article comment by: Unhappy with that office 2. I believe that is the only doctor in the valley.

Yes ma'am I think I went to that doctor. I did not know the hospital bought them, but I do know that the doctors and the entire staff should maybe not be in a vocation that deals so closely with people and the sensitive issues of personal matters. I know what you mean about dignity because when you get treated like that they take it away. I will never go to them again and have gone to Flag'. The office boss lady was so unprofessional she walked away before I could finish asking a question. I had a medical problem and the doctor and staff treated me like a mule. Should our community be able to ask the board of directors of the hospital why they are on such a bad course, or are they overpaid and part of the money draining and poor policy issue. Can we keep this discussion going long enough to generate more truth. How about that Independent News, this is critical to our health and finances.

WHO was the doctor and staff that was so rude?

Article comment by: I saw a doctor that got bought by the hospital he was mean and so was his staff.

I had a bladder problem and went to a doctor recently bought by the hospital. I guess the hospital doesn't care about bedside manor. It was the rudest office I have ever been in. They act like they are doing you a favor by letting you be there. They don't like questions being asked of them. The girls are just plain unprofessional and stuck up. The doctor was not in a good mood or is simply not a nice person. This valley relies on the hospital to make good choices for the healthcare of the community and as of late they are not, period. There should be standards of competence and care, which include being nice to your patients. I have spoken with other elderly folk and this particular doctors office has a bad reputation for meanness. I want my dignity!!! Please let my words be published Mr. Editor. The other people got their say and I want mine. The ladies of my garden club thank you.

Article comment by: Hawaii vacation may have something to do with it

Tell us Mr. Barber why do you think the hospital board should meet in Hawaii?

But then again, the board does not exist to represent patients but to maximize profits. Seems like you guys are doing a real good job of that.

Article comment by: Competancy may be getting better BUT the prices are ridicoulous and admin is on spending spree.

Sure a board member likes the place, but what about the people that get sick or injured. You say u will compare with other rural hospitals but you charge like a Beverly Hills Hospital. We've all read that the head of the hosp just spent a fortune on redecorating her own office, and she is only temporary. What kind of scam are they running on the citizens of the Verde Valley. They buy up local high priced real estate and then fire people and say they don't have money. They buy doctor's practices and pay the doctors and their staff top dollar and then don't give benefits to people that already work there. I have heard it all over town that the people running that place are paying themselves like royalty and then charging us royally. This makes me mad just typing this. Oh by they way they wouldn't hire my neighbor but they did hire some out of town know nothing that we hear is next to useless and never even comes out of her office except to say something completely wrong. It's all true and I have lived here for twenty years. Maybe if they see this in the paper or on the internet they will see the light.
