Letter: What Democrat really won in CD4?

The following is the observation of one person...and hope and wish I am not right.

Can bad/erroneous vote counting happen?

The answer is a high possible yes. If you check the recount process of the Democrat race in CD4 you need to find out if the seven counties that comprise CD4 had political parties participation, in order for a “mandatory” 5-percent manual hand count to be conducted.

Here are some facts.

1.  Recount was triggered because the gap in the race was less than 0.1 percent

2.  The recorded hand count data located on the AZ SoS web page since 2006 shows that the accumulative average “vote count”  “Error Rate” for the combined seven counties is approx 0.14 percent

3.  If the “mandatory” 5-percent hand count was not conducted the recount results leaves us with the question “...what is/was the real count for the CD4 Dem race?”

Bottom line, yes we have a “legal” winner.  And, no we don’t know the “real” vote count.

The WE is:

• election officials don’t know...

• election workers don’t know...

• election observers don’t know...

• news media don’t know...

• candidates don’t know...

• members of the “AZ SoS vote count verification committee” don’t know...

• members of the AZ legislature’s elections over-site committee(s) don’t know...

• and the most important  WE is the citizens/voters don’t know...

• and the political parties don’t know...

This built-in systemic defect of our elections vote count process needs to be addressed and fixed before the upcoming November elections, etc.

Frank Henry
