Guest Editorial: Our lives are richer, fuller for living in Verde Valley
James J Bleicher

It’s difficult to believe that it was five years ago that my family and I saw the Verde Valley for the first time and ultimately made it our home. While it may sound a bit cliché, time really does fly when you are having fun.

But now, it is time for us to say good bye to good friends and colleagues, all of whom have touched our lives and added a chapter we will forever remember with great fondness.

To the staff of Verde Valley Medical Center (VVMC), thank you for helping me to be successful and for developing into such a tight-knit and remarkable team. I could not have enjoyed my journey with you more.

This team of professionals has transformed your local community hospital into a nationally recognized habitat for healing. They have won countless awards for service excellence, quality, safety and engagement. I know this reliable team will not skip a beat and will always remain diligently focused on the healthcare needs of their patients.

I challenge the community to continue to enthusiastically embrace VVVC and to work with her to ensure that the many challenges posed by healthcare reform are successfully met.

To the board of directors of VVMC, thank you for the opportunity to lead.  Without your blessings all of our success wouldn’t have been possible.

To the community that embraced my family with open arms, thank you. We found great support and acceptance at the local schools … St. Joseph’s Elementary and Mingus Union High School.

Through the youth athletic program AYSO (American Youth Soccer Organization) and Verde Valley Little League, our three children excelled both athletically and more important, socially.

We found this community a warm place to live and very accepting of diverse backgrounds, religious beliefs and political positions.

While a new chapter is opening for our family, we will hold dear the time we spent in the Verde Valley with so many wonderful people.

Thank you Dr. Bleicher for all the tools you've given VVMC and what you have helped the hospital accomplish. I, along with so many, will miss seeing your smile around the halls each day. Good luck to you and your family in your future endeavors. We do hope you will come back to Cottonwood for visits.
