The following people participated with me in cleaning up 2 miles of highway 260 on August 20: Roy Buck, Gene Carrigan, Suno Dae Torez, Mark Andersen, David Nelson, Alex Gozden, Chuck Maier, Cary Houghton, B. Helsinger, D Hinds, J Grantham, Genaro Garcia, Nazih Hazime and Al Osthoff.

Letter: Awarding bids because they are local is not justification for accepting a higher bid
This letter is in response to Ms. Dee Jenkins' letter posted Aug. 16, 2016. "Letter: All things considered, I still would have favored National Bank."
Saturday, August 20, 2016

Letter: America can survive Trump's ego, but not the alternative
It doesn't take an economist to know that politicians promise results they know they can't produce if elected ("Economists skeptical about pledges",USA Today, 8/14/16).

Letter: Bill Helm is one of the best reporters around
Bill Helm has written articles about me and my books for the second time in two years (July 4, 2016- "Writing with Introspection"). From novels to now children's books. (Pen mightier than Sword-August 17, 2016). And I have read his other work for years!

Letter: All things considered, I still would have favored National Bank
I attended the August 3rd council meeting and would like to comment on what transpired regarding the agenda item requesting approval for the Finance Director to sign a loan contract financing $543,000 (Wastewater Division Sewer Vacuum/Jetter Truck and Camera Van).

Letter: Thank you so much, 'Manny' was very honored
On July 10, 2016, a memorial golf tournament was held in honor of my husband, Manuel Ballesteros.

Tuesday, August 16, 2016

Letter: We are now harvesting our mistakes
There's nothing surprising in the GenForward poll ("Youths say parties do not represent them", AZRep, 8/7/16) showing most young adults feel the parties do not represent them.
Tuesday, August 9, 2016

Letter: All of America should see Hillary's America
I seldom go to the movies but I heard the documentary on the Democratic and Republican parties and how they were founded, and it aroused my interest. So we went to the Harkin's Theater in Prescott Valley.

Letter: Trump defeat will throw country head first into socialism
Nothing succeeds like success. The Republican Party's selection and probable defeat of Donald Trump may be the last gasp for a country moving inexorably toward socialism.

Letter: Flashy presentation and a lot of hot air
Seeing pictures of a balloon ride made me think of our present political situation -- how high a person can rise with a flashy presentation and a lot of hot air.

Letter: Heartfelt thanks to community so invested in creative spirit
I was fortunate to be invited to participate in the inaugural Sedona Summer Colony, an experiment in creativity hosted by Verde Valley School and the Sedona Arts Center. I'm a photographer and paper & book artist from northern New York.
Thursday, August 4, 2016

Letter: Gag order by FCC?
The City of Sedona hired Cityscape, a consulting firm, to advise the city on site locations for future cell towers as the country expands wireless access through the recently passed 5G initiative. I'm sure this will extend beyond Sedona to the entire Verde Valley.

Letter: Clinton vs. Trump is no choice at all
Clinton and Trump. There we have it. The two major parties have selected their candidates. Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, the two most despised and distrusted presidential candidates in decades, if not in American history.

Letter: Chagolla Jr. sentencing is frightening from every imaginable angle
"Astonished" doesn't even begin to express my reaction to the incredibly light 11 year sentence handed down to the murderer Mario Chagolla Jr.
Friday, July 29, 2016

Letter: Democrat leaders don't want to 'fix' immigration
The slowly disappearing Arizona Republic does little to hide their role as mouthpiece for Arizona's left wing Democrats. The tone of Dan Nowicki's column ("Political divide on immigration grows", AZRep, 7/24/16) concerning immigration places him squarely in the Democrat camp.
Tuesday, July 26, 2016

Letter: MVD office under staffed; public is under served
I noticed that the Arizona Dept. of Motor Vehicles office on 12th Street is very understaffed.

Thursday, July 21, 2016

Letter: Which one is the real racial crime?
The police officer in the traffic stop is not guilty of a hate crime.

The man who shot the officers in Dallas is.

Saturday, July 16, 2016

Letter: Process for choosing new council members leaves something to be desired
With the political season upon us, I feel it is necessary to write this letter urging our citizens to pay attention to the upcoming local elections, with the primary on August 30th.
Friday, July 15, 2016

Letter: 'Those who give up their personal freedoms for the sake of safety, deserve neither'
In response to the letter written by Bob Burke in Sunday's edition of your paper, Sunday, July 10, regarding the AK47 rifle, there were a number of falsies he presented to your readers.

Tuesday, July 12, 2016

Letter: Clinton questions and quotes
Question: What do these three quotes have in common? 1. "I did not have sex with that woman, Monica Lewinsky." 2. "If you like your health care plan, you can keep it." 3. "I never sent or received any classified information on my e-mails."

Tuesday, July 12, 2016

Letter: This one hardly passes the old smell test
At the May 17 City council meeting staff was directed by a unanimous vote to empanel a committee to look into the hangar land leases at the airport.

Saturday, July 9, 2016

Letters: Laws are made for the little people
I think I get it when law professor Glenn Reynolds (U. Tenn) says "The laws are made for the little people."

Saturday, July 9, 2016

Letter: When talking rights of gun owners, misinformation is in abundance
Michael Westlund, in a recent guest editorial, expressed his disappointment at the increasingly louder chorus demanding sane gun safety regulations.

Saturday, July 9, 2016

Letter: Public meeting would have benefited from having a public process
When we walked away at the end of the meeting, we were disappointed ...probably because we thought we would be at least heard - particularly because the meeting seemed to be the result of our request by our organization to the county for a "conditional use permit".

Thursday, July 7, 2016

Letter: Why no commercial development planned for highway frontage?
Why does I-17 and SR 260 frontage not allow for commercial development in the new general plan? Why is no one talking about this? It would be valuable for the paper to look into this topic.
Thursday, July 7, 2016

Letter: We still need more volunteers for Cornfest
To all those brave souls that have already signed up, THANK YOU for volunteering for Cornfest. Remember this is your festival and we need all the help we can get; 82 spaces of 2-hour shifts and we are nowhere near our goal. Please consider helping us out once again this year.

Thursday, July 7, 2016

Letter: Cooperstown should take a clue from Cincinatti Reds
I am very happy that Pete Rose got into the Reds hall of fame along with retiring his number for the Cincinatti Reds.
Tuesday, July 5, 2016

Letter: Politics as usual: Clintons will be Clintons
As usual, the Clinton's manage to leave a stain wherever they touch. A.G. Lynch's friendship with Hillary probably caused the lack of judgment that allowed presumptive "First Husband" Bill Clinton to board her plane in Phoenix.
Tuesday, July 5, 2016

Letter: Panhandlers should be required to get permit from city
Since panhandling seems to be a business for some of the participants, the city should require a paid permit for those who have this as a vocation.

Thursday, June 30, 2016

Letter: Why does everyone want to get rid of Lake Montezuma?
Can anyone tell me when Lake Montezuma, Arizona died? When will the obituary be for the community? It seems to have fallen off the map.
