5/29/2014 2:01:00 PM Letter: Old Town Mission is
all about 'Neighbors
Can you believe that summer is already here? Where does the time go? As summer approaches, the Old Town Mission is faced with two major concerns. The first is we see an increase in the number of guests we have visiting the Mission to receive services such as water, food, clothing, tents, tarps, lip balm, sun block and showers. We always seem to run short on these items during the summer months.
The other major concern we are faced with is that many of our faithful volunteers are snowbirds so they are here only for the winter months. As summer approaches we slowly start losing many of our volunteers as they return to their summer homes searching for cooler weather. This leaves a huge gap for us to fill.
Volunteers have varying shifts Monday-Friday from 8:30-3:30, they help prepare lunch, serve, lunch, clean, distribute food, sort food, sort clothing, prepare hygiene bags, visit with guest, and so much more. Do you have any free time this summer? Would you be willing to volunteer at the Mission once a week or once a month? We welcome you to bring your family along with you.
Please contact the Old Town Mission if you would like to volunteer at the Old Town Mission.
