Letter: Here is how you can honor Dustin's memory

Editor:

My son, Dustin Spude, passed away on Wednesday September 4th and his Memorial was held on Saturday.

I would like to thank all of the friends and family that made this event something to be proud of. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to those who shared their stories and their love for my son. Dustin touched a lot of lives. Please honor his memory by telling the people in your life what makes them unique, and why you value them. We are often our own worst critic.

I will miss my son every moment of my life, but he is free now to write his song in the wind. So listen closely, and you will hear the strum of his guitar. My love always Mom

Kathy Spude

I wish I could say how that brilliant man changed my life, but there are not words for it.

Please don't let Dustin be one of those people that people are sad about for a moment then they move on with their lives. Remember him daily. He is not someone to be forgotten.

Dustin was a unique person and he will truly be missed. I met him in high school, and though we grew apart (partially because I moved to California) I will never forget him. My heart and thoughts go out to his family and really anyone who was blessed enough to know him.

I did not know Dustin, but I was touched by this letter.

May you find peace and comfort Ms. Spude in knowing your son's song is now in the wind for us all to enjoy forever.

Dustin Spude was unique. He lived life the way he wanted to. He didnt worry at all what people thought of him. He was his own person. He lived life on his own terms, if only we all could be so bold. I'm very sorry for you loss. But as you know, Dustin did touch a lot of lives. He's in a lot of memories. Dustin continues to live in the minds of those who knew him.
