Letter: Many thanks from Adopt For Life Center for Animals

Editor:

Back in December 2012 President Kyla Allen of the Adopt For Life Center for Animals met with successful fundraiser Julie Shoup to pick her brain, in hopes to help the financially struggling shelter. Because Julie’s was busy with her own growing business, acquiring Julie’s skills for future fundraisers (other than Wet Nose Wednesday) was not in the cards however she was full of ideas. When Julie mentioned she had seen an out of state shelter put on a fundraiser for spay/neuter funds, the AFL board took this suggestion and ran with it. And in only 2 months, the first annual AFLCFA SPAY-ghetti and Meatballs event was born!

With well over 130 people in attendance, we want to thank everyone who participated and made this evening a great success. It takes a lot of coordinated effort by staff, volunteers and generous community members to make it work and we want to make sure you know you are all appreciated and acknowledged and if we didn’t mention your name here, we apologize!

Entertainers Chris Livas and Dave Martinez provided amazing music. Event and auction Sponsors were Adrienne Pritchard, Tina Allegrezza of Red Rose Inspiration, Celeste Hardy, Robert & Rachelle Goode, Fred and Marily Raberts of Bah Humbug Collectibles; Steve Betcher of Pottery by Tarzan; Kay Nye, Owner of Crickets Restaurant, Ralph Nye, Helga, Barry Maketansky of the Sedona Biddle Outdoor Center and medicine bag artist Seeta Anarishkwa.

Wine was provided by Arizona Stronghold and Pillsbury Wine Co’s. The City of Cottonwood Recreation Center provided a marvelous venue. And finally a huge thanks to Wine server Marianne Jimenez; Food Servers, Jodie O’Connell, Ellen Yates and Renee George; floater Jim Allen and Chefs extraordinaire Brian O’Connell (of the Paw Boutique) and Rick George!

Thank you so much for everyone who attended and the great success you made this event and we look forward to doing it again next year!
