There was no library in Cottonwood before the 1950's. Then a bookmobile visited every 2 weeks. The first library was in 1 room of the Annex behind the Cottonwood Community Club House.

Verde Heritage -- 1915: JEROME; Montana
The Montana hotel was totally destroyed by fire early Sunday morning [February 28]. The hotel was completed by the United Verde Copper Company in the early part of 1900 at a cost of $200,000 and was considered the finest hotel in the West.

The next best thing to skiing the slopes is this (might even be better) . flying the ridge below the top and staying in that beautiful unseen flow of orographic lift coming up the slopes bent from horizontal by the mountain and rising as you go along the mountain.

Verde Heritage -- 1912: New United Verde Smelter Planned
The new Cedar Glade and Verde Valley Railroad is to be completed by September, then construction of the new smelter will begin. The smelter will double the capacity of the old plant and will be of the most modern design possible. A third furnace was blown-in at the smelter in Jerome.
