How Toastmasters can help you land that job

Toastmasters not only can help you land a job but also help you do well in that job. Toastmasters International has been around since 1924, and the organization has helped millions of people become better communicators.

The organization uses a network of Toastmasters Clubs where members learn by doing. Members learn to be more persuasive, and their confidence grows. Perhaps most important, you’ll improve your one-on-one skills when dealing with others.

That alone will help in landing a new job and then performing well in that job.

Laurie Rangel of the Cottonwood Toastmaster’s Club explained that with Toastmasters, you learn not only speaking skills, but you also learn listening skills. She points out that during an interview, the company is looking at how well you present yourself. They want to see if you answer the questions or “hash around” not really saying anything.

Those interested in learning more about Toastmasters to attend one of the club’s meetings held every Monday from noon to 1 p.m. at Cottonwood Village, 201 Mingus Ave.
