Everyone has a story to tell. Are you an aspiring author? If you are interested in improving your writing skills and submitting your book for publication, attend the writing workshop with author Kristen Kauffman on Friday, Sept. 19. The workshop will be from 9 a.m. to noon at Sedona Winds Retirement Community, 405 Jacks Canyon Road.
During this writing workshop, Kristen Kauffman will walk you through the nuts and bolts of the narrative process and provide tools for writers of short fiction, long fiction, nonfiction/memoir, and even kids' stories. From idea generation to the commitment to finishing a final draft, attendees will come away well-equipped to tackle their next story. The workshop will focus on the following: idea generating and story comprehension, essential parts of every tory, and story arc formulas.
About the presenter: Kristen Kauffman graduated from Goddard College in 2012 and is now an instructor of creative writing at Yavapai College. She is a creative nonfiction contributor in the upcoming "Bookshop Book" due out in October. Her poetry has been published in the Pitkin Review and Threshold Magazine. Kristen is the author of two novels: "Just Pretend" (2007) and "Breakable Rules" (2008).
The program, sponsored by the Arizona State Library and Sedona Public Library in the Village, is free and open to the public.
