8/23/2013 12:30:00 PM SMART Recovery program offered in Village
SMART Recovery is the leading self-empowering addiction recovery support group in the United States and is now meeting each Tuesday in the Center for Positive Living in the Village of Oak Creek.
There are over 700 SMART meetings in the USA and the SMART Recovery Manual has been translated into several languages with SMART Recovery beginning in many other countries. Southern and Central Arizona have 16 SMART meetings available. There are two SMART meetings in Prescott, one in Flagstaff and one in Lake Havasu. SMART participants learn tools for addiction recovery based on the latest scientific research and participate in a world-wide community which includes free, self-empowering, science-based mutual help groups.
The SMART Recovery 4-Point Program helps people recover from all types of addiction and addictive behaviors, including: drug abuse, drug addiction, substance abuse, alcohol abuse, gambling addiction, cocaine addiction, prescription drug abuse, and addiction to other substances and activities.
Online SMART meetings, information and 24/7 chat rooms are also available at SMARTRECOVERY.ORG.
The 4-Point Program offers tools and techniques for:
1: Building and Maintaining Motivation
2: Coping with Urges
3: Managing Thoughts, Feelings and Behaviors
4: Living a Balanced Life
The SMART Approach

Teaches techniques for self-directed change.
Supports the scientifically informed use of psychological treatment and legally prescribed psychiatric and addiction medication.
