The Men’s Club held its first general meeting of the year on Feb. 27, drawing a crowd of about 50 members, who enjoyed a fine buffet breakfast. In the absence of President Ron Graham, who was on a well deserved vacation, Vice President John Doom presided, showing a rare sense of humor as he ran the meeting.
Tournament Chairman Jim Bedore covered several points, including the fact that we must sign up before 4 p.m. on the Monday preceding our Wednesday events, thus giving him enough time to set up the event. He also noted that we should sign in at least one half hour before teeing off, another accomodation to those folks who collect money and assign starting holes, etc.
General Manager Tony Rizzo introduced Steve Bruns, the new restaurant manager, who outlined his plans for our eating facility. Among other things he noted that a new menu is on the way, as well as a number of special events.
Superintendent Bill Czekai spoke of current course conditions, and brought us up to date on various projects that are underway, including much tree work.
Chris Schindler brought us up to date on various doings, and then introduced our newest Club pro, Sam Marzenell, who has joined us, having just come from Kennebunkport, ME. where he worked with the Bush family, etc. Sam also challenged us to Beat The Pro that day, stationing himself at No. four, where we tried to best his drive there. A fun challenge.
As noted in our last column, and discussed at several meetings, new score cards became available in March. These will affect a change in handicaps on several holes, etc. and should be followed for that. So be sure to remember what the new handicaps are on each hole.
